It seems preposterous that the Wii would come second to any of the current generation consoles in the 10 weeks to Christmas or 'Holiday season'. However I wonder if the chances whilst slim are good enough to at least consider it a conversation topic.

So again, could the Wii come 2nd in the 10 weeks of Christmas? I know they sold a record number of consoles last year however the relative sales since then have opened up the possibility that the Wii might not be on top this coming Holiday Season.

Its an outside chance, Wii sales have to be down by a fair margin and one of the other console sales have to be up by a considerable margin for it to happen. So really its a confluence of two unknown variables. It would be pretty epic and unprecedented, but since when has this generation been following precedents?

Of course we all know its unlikely to happen, but hey it could happen and it makes for a hopefully more interesting topic of discussion for those who are here to talk about sales.

Not sure if I understand but yes, the Wii will probably be second behind Xbox360 (I think) but might be first because of Donkey Kong and Wii Party. This market is quite unpredictable sometimes...

It's possible, sure. Depending on release dates, it may even be 3rd, behind DS and 3DS. As for just consoles, which you specify in your post, while technically possible, I don't think it will happen. I do think this season will be a lot closer than last one, but I still see Wii staying in first on that aspect.

I sincerely doubt it. Nintendo gets a bigger holiday boost than anybody. The other consoles are certainly getting more competitive, but I don't expect new peripherals will lead to 360 or PS3 overtaking the Wii in sustained sales, let alone beating the Wii in its most powerful quarter.

oh...well its possible, the HD sytems have pretty good line-ups, the wii has a great line-up as well. im gonna say no, but i think it will be pretty close.

Oh, if it's the 10 weeks total (worldwide), hell no. That's the Wii's strongest time of the year.

If we're talking specific regions, I still doubt it. The Wii's weakest region seems to be Others right now, but the PS3 can't reach the Wii without a price cut (which I don't see happening), and the X360 is just weaker in general there.

The Wii has a strong lineup for Japan / NA, so I don't think those regions are in question.
