He's not exactly wrong if he narrows it to the PS3 though, you can argue that FF13 is the best the PS3 has to offer on the JRPG side since I haven't seen that many good ones on the PS3.

Actually, the number of JRPGs on the PS3 can be counted with my fingers.

Or maybe I'm missing some games.

I know of WKC, Star Ocean 4 and like Resonance of Fate. Yeah there's the like of Cross Edge but you know.

IMO if ff12 didn't exist, ff13 would be the worst of the numbered fantasies.

Also, you need to play WotL before you can critcise it, that game is immense.


You want to know something funny? I never liked FF XII that much but after plaing XIII, God did I take every aspect  that made a great RPG for granted. Despite my dislike for XII, it still had all thos great elements that made for a good JRPG ( EXPLOR-FUKIN-ATION).

I'm honestly gonna go back and finish XII now. After summer classes.

Quest 64 was the best JRPG ..... on the N64. See that's not helping.

Yes, though I class FF12 as the worse, there are things it had over ff13, but not the 2 most important ones, story and gameplay.

That's right, because the entire span of Valkyria chronicles is just that right? You don't control the units and position them like a normal SRPG, you don't have a limited amount of Action points and inventory management like a normal SRPG and you don't need to actually have a strategy to beat the campaign.

Moew pew pew. You know Valkyria Chronicles characters are likeable, they motivations and personalities are great and most important you care about these guys, you care so much that you play hours and hours with every character to see every bit of info about their future in a simple text and the end. You have two brother taking care of each other, a old man fighthing his last battle, a crazy gay guy destroying evrything at his path, etc. I can play FF XIII with potatoes and cucumbers as main characters and it's not going to make a big difference in a game (hell even a cucumber as more personality than Hope)
