Forums - Sony - Discs making horribly loud noise when spinning

So my PS3 has been getting a lot of use lately since I watch a lot of Netflix and this weekend my disc drive started making bad noises.  It has only happened to me twice now, but it's enough to make me fear my PS3 Slim might be going to a repair facility...

When it happens, it happens when I insert a disc.  The disc starts spinning and it almost sounds like a leaf blower.  This has happened with two seperate discs and one of those discs worked fine when put in my 360 (didn't bother with the Netflix disc).  Resetting the console didn't seem to fix it but just leaving it alone for the night seemed to work for a while.  It happened to me once on Friday and then it happened again yesterday.

Is my Slim dying?  Is this something that's covered under warranty?

-edit-

The two discs this has happened to me on are my PS3 Netflix disc and an Arrested Development disc.  Neither are scratched and both played fine later.

For a second, I thought you were about to go off complaining again.

Maybe it's just dusty, if the discs still work fine, I wouldn't worry that much. But that's me.

Whatever you do, don't press that start button!  That thing's so sharp, it'll poke your eye out!

Its quite probable. I remember last time my wife made horrible noises we had to come home from the hospital with an expensive baby.

Tell your neighbours kids to stop blowing their vuvuzela's when you are using your ps3
