Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Crapcom is just that....crap. At anyrate, the PS2 is at the end of its life, so this is expected. I would rather have my online play for free while the game is still in production and then not have online, than pay anything for a service. I pay enough for online service as it is. I dont really care how " cheap " LIVE is, I would never pay for it. Then again I am not real big on playing online, so it doeant really bother me either way.

This is why Microsoft was smart with their Xbox Live service - Microsoft runs all the game servers so there's no excuse to shut down online play. Sony makes 3rd party companies run their own servers, which costs them money to implement and maintain.
I'm not going to pay $$$/year for online service.

to be fair, it is quite cheap ($40 a year?) and you do get a better service anyway (so I'm told). But just play Warhawk, it's a great game and Sony maintain the servers and I'm sure they will for a while.

Anyway, I thought these were very old games, and how many people actually play them. I would expect the servers to be empty anyway.

Ok here is what I do not get: why are people championing MS and deriding sony? This really isn't about those companies. It boils down to the fact that capcom doesn't want to pay money for the servers.

Now computer games have had free online since the dawn of the internet. So why shouldn't consoles get the same treatment? And if you think oh well the same thing happens on the computer you are wrong. The only online games I have (re)played and tried to go online to find the servers down are for games that were made by a company that went under.

I am not sure if this all these console games shutting down is due to console game companies being greedy and not wanting to pay the costs for a few people or if it is due to the fact that these companies have yet to figure out that they can pretty much cover their costs with ads in the matchmaking menu.
