Forums - General - Swimmers plunged into dark 'to protect Muslim women's modesty'

I hate it when inmigrants try to impose their views instead of blending with the community, but the worst of all is when the government people are all pussies that accept to change some stuff for those inmigrants.

It's like some countries are losing their identities...

France already has "no go areas" for original French citizens because they are arab-muslim ghettos where even the police won't go, how is that French people accept losing part of their very own country?

Some other european countries accept inmigrants that end living on government pension, contribute to the total crime rate (burglary, rapes...) and end up being a huge part of the percentage of prisoners. How is it that governments accept all of this? Would you like to know that you were robbed or raped or someone you know was by an inmigrant?

Also some arab muslim inmigrants try to impose their laws and views on the countries they settle, in the UK there are some ghettos where some muslim laws are legally enforced! They want women to wear the burka and/or the hijab and the goverments are happy accepting women wearing that kind of garments that are totally against western culture.

Radical arab muslims are still inmigrating at an alarming pace to Europe, also they're having the biggest birth rate in those countries, they will soon be a huge minority in almost all of Europe, to the extent of some countries losing a big bart of their culture, just have a look at the French team at the World Cup, almost all of them are of inmigrant descent, that is the image that France is giving to the world right now..

I'm not racist, this is not about race, I wouldn't mind if the inmigrants mix perfectly with the culture of the country they're moving into regardless of their race. This is about culture, the modern culture and liberties that europeans fought so hard to have are now in danger of being lost because of foreign culture invading Europe.

I have to say that not all arab muslims are trying to change other cultures, there are some of them that blend perfectly and accept all the activities of others, they are wonderful people, but there are that keep their radical views and try to take advantage of government wusses...

I agree with this statement. Its the same as in the united states where mexican immigrants aren't even expected to learn english. We can't be a melting pot unless some adaptation to the host countries cultures is done by immigrants.

ok so in this case they replaced the clear windows with tinted frames and that had made the pool feel 'gloomy' ..I mean seriously? put a damn light or something....

Again not saying I agree on the seggregation, but it's a faith a religion...some accomadations are needed to be made, no matter where it is. A 'developed' society should learn to tolerate. And I'm sure they can figure something out to lessen the gloomyness in the pool, it really is not a big deal.

And Minority doesn't mean they don't have rights...even their rights and needs should be protected, if not this world will be one crappy place to live in the moment you step out of your comfort zone of being majority into a minority elsewhere

Would you like your government to accept inmigrants that share your views and principles and blend in with the society perfectly or would you prefer inmigrants that forn their ghettos, don't blend in with society and wouldn't let their children marry with your children?

Several years ago my gym did something (somewhat) similar with their group exercise room, but I think there is a pretty major difference between the two situations. The difference is that the participants of the group exercise classes were feeling uncomfortable because there were always people watching them; and there is no indication that this pool covered their windows because of any incidents of people looking into the pool.

Basically, what I see as the problem is that this change seems to be made because there is the possibility that some people could see some swimmers when they were in their swim suit; and not because there was evidence that there was a problem with people looking into the pool.

On topic -- what is the make-up of the community in question?

That often has something to do with actions taken.

(Also, I think I would have gone with a frosting for a translucent effect rather than making the windows opaque.)

Blending doesn't mean having let go of what they believe in, that's not how it should be. And a high and mighty better than thou mentality over minority beliefs in a sad notion

btw I am in the USA so yes I support accomadating minorities

White 79.6%, Asian 13.5% (Asian generally refers to people of Indian and Pakistani descent in the UK), Black 3.9%.

England as a whole is 90.9%, 4.6%, 2.3%.

Regarding frosting, take another look at the pic and article. The bottom 3 panes have been frosted. That's what all the fuss is about. The big, ugly "windows" have always been there.

Damn immigrants coming here and frosting our swimming pool windows. Mark my words, if we let them get away with this it will be Shariah law next.

Pauline Poole, 65, a retired legal secretary from Walsall, said: 'I returned to swimming after having a cataracts operation some months ago and was looking forward to looking out on some lovely trees while swimming.

'What I found was a situation that reminded me of how it felt like before my operation, like looking at a horrible cloudy view.

Poor Pauline Poole, as bad as cataracts apparently.

I still astonished as western countries are called intolerant to muslims with all they do and accept for their muslim minority.

What make me feel sad is that muslims countries not allow even 10% of that for other religion communities in their country...

Some fundamentalist are eating up alive the western culture and the western countries did nothing about it.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

Geez, as an American Muslim, I've heard these kinds of stories a hundred times over. I'm sick and tired of people trying to oppose their views onto others and vice-versa. I've come to the conclusion that neither party is right in these kinds of situations. Call me out for taking the neutral approach, but I'm just sick and tired of people caring about what other people can or cannot do. As is the case with this thread. If you don't like immigrants changing the face of your country well tough luck because there is little you can do to prevent that, but I do agree that the culture of a nation should always be preserved and passed on to those who enter its borders. Now lets switch up the situation. Lets say that another group of minorities wanted the same treatment to a swimming pool in some random state. Would the situation be the same or different?

Btw, anyone remember that Pakistani girl that was on the news because her dad threatened her for converting? Random question in a serious thread, ftw. lol

So what happens when someone complains that their modesty needs protecting from the other swimming members?

Do they start digging peoples eyes out with a spoon?

Some things are just to silly to make any rational sense.
