The game does look pretty, but from the previews I read that not only was the gameplay old, but the AI was also completely terrible. I remember KZ2 got an award of Worst AI from a mag, after the writer saw an exclusive(?) at E3 possibly.

They are from the E3 demo. Sony just released some shots to show the game is still being made. lol

Well I'm glad that a game that's nowhere near close to being done got worst A.I. award :) Ironically I remember all the pre-release A.I. for Uncharted being awefull as well ^_^ and well that ended up being the BEST a.i. I've fought against in years :P And from what I've read the gameplay is spot on, one previewer even stating that if they could keep the intensity up it'd be in the running for one of the greatest FPS's ever created. Maybe we just read different articles >_>

I honestly think this game looks like ass, but I suppose it's great for anyone who isn't annoyed by how every second shooter this gen seems to be made of grey, brown, and black.
Then again, seeing it live and playing it myself just might make me forget all that and crap my pants, since the stills and trailers very rarely impress me. =/

It's fine if the trailers don't do anything for you as long as you give the game a chance when it comes out. At least you're trying to keep an open mind (more than some).

Then again we've seen 1 area of the game, their keeping pretty hush-hush about it (which could be good or bad), but one thing I do LOVE, is the fact that their "black" area looks incredible with the lighting effects. To me anyway its giving it an incredible style I've never seen before in video games. Definately a play on lighting. It's got a really creepy/gothic type feel to it IMO.

How could this situation ever arise? Why is someone jumping over a guardrail right into where your gun is aiming. If this is actual gameplay, the AI is retarded (these situations should never occur). If these are staged screens, they are trying way too hard to make up situations that "show off the engine" putting 5 enemies in the screen at once staring at you, and some guy jumping over a guardrail just to show of the real time shadows. I'd rather just see actual situations from the game. That may contribute to why these screens seem "off," but there's something more to it. I get that feeling as well. The game by all means could be very impressive, but I am withholding judgement till I can sit it in motion. |
I completely agree with this. Why the hell would the AI ever be doing that? Well, anyway, I think it can be great, but I'll have to wait and see of course.

Here is '3rd Dec' screens of KZ2

Not sure if they are new or 'tweaked'.
Good to see this site is still going
See I think that the game looks pretty good, but I also thought that Metal Gear Solid 2 looked pretty good and to be honest Metal Gear Solid 2 still does look really good. I don't see a huge oooh ahhh jump in the visuals. I do however admit it looks good! So where does that leave me? I don't know... Guess I'm one of those people who wishes Sony continued on with the PS2? There are going to be a lot of really cool looking games on the PS3 no doubt... I can't wait to see what they pull off in a few years. Most consoles see a nice jump in visuals near the end... this should be quite a treat!
Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Sony has re-released their shots *touched up.* I guess they did this to calm investors. Here's one: http://www.play3-live.com/jeux/image-killzone-2-ps3-24.html I apologize for any hype I generated. |
There are lines that look like crumple lines, and make me wonder if that isn't a scan of concept art.
Regardless of the actual detail, the art direction is not impressive. It's a good counter-example for the realism=immersion claim about gaming.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
