I agree with Wada. Now, give SE to Bioware and let them do their magic. Release 2 Final Fantasy's mainline developed by different customers, one for Japan, one for the rest of the world. The few cry babies that want Japanese style FF can import.

YES! We want FF to have the same old, never changing Bioware plot!
Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I've only played one bioware game (Sonic Chronicles) and that was the mos God awful RPG I have ever played
So no

| Weegee said: IMO the problem is simply because this gen is the golden age of FPS and Action Game and it's not the main strength of the japanese developer. But game like devil may cry , resident evil , metal gear or street fighter are all from japanese developer and they are also action game. Bayonetta and Valkyria Chronicles have been ok sale wise, one was again an action game and the other was in a modern war universe. |
And Final Fantasy XIII Outsold every single one of those games. And Dragon Quest IX outold most of them. It's.
But I will say I'm still a square-enix lover (games wise) as they've made my favorite game this Gen (TWEWY :D :D :D) and I loved Crisis Core, and FFXIII as welll as all the remakes/ports of old squaresoft games So I do not dislike what they've been doing.
Wada is kinda confusing... But what I got out of it. Is Square Enix Japan, should do what Square Enix Japan Does... And Square Enix Europe (Eidos) isn't going to be interfered with a Japanese way of thinking. Which I hope so because the Deus Ex Franchise is my 2nd Favorite Franchise behind Final Fantasy. And I don't really want it developed from a japanese perspective. If anything it sounded to me like. He was saying he made a mistake about trying to put western things in square-enix games. (saying it in a bizzare way ofcourse.)
Also, he says ridiculous things which is amusing to me. But I think he said something like they might not make anymore final fantasy a while back. And Kitase was like wtf. And that's not going to happen
Was it translated by a reliable source and computer translators are not reliable. I am a Japanese major and sometimes the sactual implication is the opposite opposite. (not saying this is the case) (I do not know what constitutes as reliable hence why I am asking)
Edit: This is just for people that might be interpreting something incorrect by him saying globalization has, he does not mean square enix is failing. they've made around 300 million profit each for atleast the past 3-4 years

Do you really want to go down that road? There's a thousand different reasons that that's a bad idea; you sure you want to attack BioWare?
It's very rare that I agree with Wada on much of anything, but he does have a good point. Hybrid development may have something to it. Maybe the next Final Fantasy or Tomb Raider may have co-operative script development in order to make sure that localization is more fluid. I just hope this doesn't mean that SE will stop releasing Japanese IP's to the West, as there is a whole market of American's that actually do want to play Japanese IP's.

Actually, Resident Evil 5 outsold both of those titles. It's going to take FFXIII a while more to catch up with it.
