Forums - Microsoft - Destructoid Crackdown 2 Review - 4.5/10

I think the game literally came with crack and Jim did a little over de dose before he wrote the review score.

He's also fat... so take that for what it's worth.

Well that's Destructoid for you guys. I don't think this game should be as low as 45. More like a 65-75 from what I've heard.

the sad thing is this isn't even the lowest score so far for the game :S

It's admirable that the guys who made Crackdown 2 have created a sequel every bit as good as the original. It's just a shame they don't have that insight into the genre at large. Because there's almost nothing in Crackdown 2 to recommend it over the competition. On the whole, I'd rather be in Panau.

That's just too harsh imo...surely this game can't be THAT bad....

The current Meta is around 72 now...but Meta sucks...however three of the main review scores/reviews I actually care to read had relatively low scores as well

Joystiq

That world, by the way, is the same one you already explored in Crackdown, if a touch more run down. Tack that on to the loads of comically plain textures and frequent slowdown and you've got a graphical package that's doing nothing to alleviate the sense of déjà vu.

There's no question that Crackdown 2 is a mere shadow of the first game, which stands as an absolute classic. The sequel feels more like an ambitious user mod than a true follow-up.

This game is doesn't significantly build on or vastly improve any of the features of its predecessor, so those with high hopes for a stellar sequel will be disappointed. Still, Crackdown 2's core action and appeal remain very strong, and there is great potential for cooperative mayhem, making this a fun stop on your summer videogame tour.

How long has this game been in development? can someone fill me on this...

ps: for the record Jim Sterlin is a Moron and a Troll....that's why reviews by him = BS//however it's funny some who actually defended him when he gives ps3 games low scores are doing the opposite here :P

i didn't like the demo. it felt exactly like the first game. It got repetitive way too fast.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Eurogamer gave it an 8....But considering everyone hates Eurogamer and think they suck....=p.

Ok, I will consider inFamous the sequel to Crackdown, and wait inFamous 2.  I will consider getting Crackdown 2 when it hits the bargain bin, the way Shadowrun did.  Not that large of a loss for me.  I thought the demo to Crackdown 2 was pretty good though, but the reviews are great for delying my need to run out and buy it.

71 is the new "Very bad"?

Shit, I got to sell half of my gamign collection...

Seriously though, for people that feel that the game is a letdown and in the 70s on meta...check out Transformers and Singularity. Both games are in the (high) 70s review wise and both kick major ass. Transformers in perticular, damn that game is fun...

Having tried the demo for Crackdown 2. I was already feeling fairly disappointed. The critique based on my thirty minutes seems to be pretty fair. I also feel that any beating the developer takes is entirely justified. Having watched the developer diaries before even trying the demo I wasn't impressed. They really didn't have the option for modest improvement over the previous title. Seeing as last year Prototype took the Crackdown formula to ridiculous levels. That development team basically improved greatly all aspects of the original Crackdown. Plus they incorporated a plethora of other mechanics, and managed to toss in a story system that surpassed Bioshock into the mix.
