Now it's counting for one console, so we don't need to be reminded that Modern Warfare 2 also sold really well. Although NSMBWii did this with a much smaller opening, so it's really an appled an oranges thing. Both are sweat, juicy, and healthy, so let's just leave it at that.

Anyway, to those like Yahtzee, who claim this game shouldn't have a right to exist, 15 million people (at least, considering the multiplayer) say it sure as hell has a right to exist.

it had to do this much and it wasn't as hyped as MW2 so it would do a small opening but then consistant weekly

Such a fun game, especially the multiplayer. You just don't have games like this nowadays, which is a shame.

I think it could end up with 30 million sales, people love their classic Mario games. My sister hasn't played a Mario game since 64, and when I told her NSMB Wii was coming and explained that it was 2D Mario, she says "Really? An OLD SCHOOL Mario??"2D Mario is simply a different beast than recent Mario games that appeal to lot more people.

I'm glad Nintendo is finally returning to its roots and making the great games they used to, hopefully the great sales will push them to make more.

I wasn't implying it was a bad thing. I was stating that selling so fast with a lower start than record setters like GTA IV and MW2 means the speed accomplishment is all the more impressive.
