I wonder that too. It feels like a relic from the pre-internet days. I guess they must want to control the timing and quality of the public release of the video, which is fine as long as they release it promptly. If they sit on it for 2 months while all the public has to consume is the inevitable camcorder version with crappy sound and people walking in front of the camera, they're not doing us or themselves any favors. In any case, the days of people being happy to hear journalists describe how awesome a trailer was are long over. We expect to see it ourselves.
Final Fantasy VII AC: Complete... what was incomplete about it? Did they just slap it on a Blu Ray?
It's also got new scenes and new effects. I think it'll take more than that to turn it into what I'd call a "good" movie, but I'll probably pick it up in a few years when it's cheap. I imagine it'll be pretty much the most impressive home theatre demo disk ever made.
