None the less, didn't ODST go on to sell over 5 million copies? yeah... I think your argument is void.

One question.... How long before GT6? or some other iteration of GT5? I have no idea... I'm just asking. But I am guessing they will squeeze one more onto the PS3 using the same basic buidling blocks they have developed. This will curtail GT5 sales in the long term.

This is going quite far off-topic, but even using "the same basic building blocks" it would take at least another 2 years to squeeze out a GT6 onto the PS3. With a launch of 2.5-3mil and then 24-30 months at least of classic GT legs, Gran Turismo 5 would easily break 10mil before a new iteration arrived.

I love how people here just throw out ridiculous claims and predictions without checking historical data.... GT5 will not "easily" break 10 mil in just 2 years.... no chance. GT4 took 198 weeks to get to 10m (4 years) and yet this ranks at the 18th fastest game of all time to that level. (so it was relatively very quick to do it... but it still took 4 years) for reference halo 3 managed it in 98 weeks (15th fastest) |
52 weeks x 30 months (2.5 years) = 130 weeks for GT5 to hit 10mil.
I don't think that's unreasonable considering the demo Prologue managed half of that in the same timeframe.

Fingers crossed.
I'm being incredibly ambitious about the speed, but even if I'm 9 or 10 months out it will still cross 10 mil.
GT5 10 mil, maybe, but i'm very keen on seeing how well Fable 3 does with such strong competition this Fall.
