Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft targets 5m Fable III sales, profits of $150m

Fable 3 will share the same fate as Halo ODST which hindered its early sales. Piracy is a hell of a thing.

None the less, didn't ODST go on to sell over 5 million copies? yeah... I think your argument is void.

I get a kick out a lot of you folk.  Most of you that are saying there is no chance for 5 million Fable 3 sales have said that GT5 will sale a bajillion copies.  Double standards anyone?

Since Peter M. says he is wanting to reach 5 million most of you think that is impossible.  5 million isn't such a big jump is it?  After digital distribution I would think that Fable 2 has sold close to 4 million copies.  So were only really looking at an extra 1 million to 1.5 million sales.  How is that such a difficult feat if the game is better than Fable 2?

I would laugh so hard if it does indeed sell 5 million and GT5 only sells a little more.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Don't even compare Fable to GT in sales comparisons

GT5 is coming of a game that sold 11 Million...and before that a game that sold 15 Million

Fable 3 is coming of a game that sold 4 Million.....and before that 3 Million.

The difference being that fable 3 WILL almost certainly outsell fable 2 and fable, but GT5 will almost certainly NOT outsell its recent iterations.

Thats not the point I was making

He needs to understand the reason people think GT5 is going to sell 10 Million plus

People aren't pulling out huge GT5 sales prediction from twiddling their thumbs, not here is a legit reason people think it will sell bajillions.

10m...? nah.

One question.... How long before GT6?  or some other iteration of GT5?

I have no idea... I'm just asking.  But I am guessing they will squeeze one more onto the PS3 using the same basic buidling blocks they have developed.  This will curtail GT5 sales in the long term.

This is going quite far off-topic, but even using "the same basic building blocks" it would take at least another 2 years to squeeze out a GT6 onto the PS3. With a launch of 2.5-3mil and then 24-30 months at least of classic GT legs, Gran Turismo 5 would easily break 10mil before a new iteration arrived.

I love how people here just throw out ridiculous claims and predictions without checking historical data....

GT5 will not "easily" break 10 mil in just 2 years....  no chance.

GT4 took 198 weeks to get to 10m (4 years) and yet this ranks at the 18th fastest game of all time to that level. (so it was relatively very quick to do it... but it still took 4 years)

for reference halo 3 managed it in 98 weeks (15th fastest)

52 weeks x 30 months (2.5 years) = 130 weeks for GT5 to hit 10mil.

I don't think that's unreasonable considering the demo Prologue managed half of that in the same timeframe.

So the fastest selling GT of all time then?

Fingers crossed.

I'm being incredibly ambitious about the speed, but even if I'm 9 or 10 months out it will still cross 10 mil.

GT5 10 mil, maybe, but i'm very keen on seeing how well Fable 3 does with such strong competition this Fall.
