All MMOs get some form of testing. The live environment of thousands of players doing stupid shit simultaneously breaks a surprising large amount of shit. Unless you do huge extensive betas the MMO is going to be bug ridden. The genre simply doesn't have a well developed enough method of testing to replace end users yet, and may never.

what are you talking about? there is a MASSIVE amount of information available for the game. Classes, jobs, attacks, starting cities, level system, battle system, world, etc. Pretty much everything you need to know is there.

And why the hell do you want it to "learn" from WoW. Lets not have another garbage WoW clone like so many other MMOs. Let an MMO be original like like Aion, Champions Online, APB, LOTR Online, Eve Online, Mu, and RuneScape.

I have a GOD character in that game. But I grew out of the game. After so many years, I had to let it go. Had some good times though.

No there isn't. Not in the ways that count. There is no information on any of the systems, how they work, or if it is anything other than pure crap. That means there is a tight lid on the information, which means small scale testing. Small scale testing for a MMO this close to a release is the worst sign imaginable.

You know why WoW was such a huge success? Because they fixed what was broken over a stupidly long period of time. Blizzard sunk an absolutely staggering amount of time and money into their closed beta, and let the testers talk about it every where. The testers had a lot of positive feedback because they were making every thing work.

You list of "original" MMOs makes me laugh too. Champions is a CoH clone but done worse, and LOTR online is a WoW clone. City of Heroes was a pretty cool and original game when it came out though.

I research just fine. I just don't follow news reports on MMOs at all seriously. I have been burned far too many times. There have been cases where the entire experience was created for the sole purpose of the demonstration. Show me where there is actual people giving feedback and I will change my tune, but I am betting you can't. I still keep tabs on the MMO scenes, and information is scant even in those circles.

find some alpha/beta testers... there has to be quite a few between the PS3 and PC versions. I'll try to find some.. later....

They are actually fairly rare. Rare enough that nothing substantial has made it out. Which is what I stated originally. I really hate having to lead people right back to where the conversation started.

Actually I dont think the US beta started yet. Thats half the problem. BUT, from all combat videos it seems the took FFXI's battle system and improved upon it (its faster!!!!). So really as long as its FFXI on speed for combat I think we are good. It will be another fantastic MMO from Square.
