After tons of rumors over the last month, Hulu finally confirmed yesterday that their Hulu Plus service will be made available on both the Xbox 360 (early next year) and PlayStation 3 ("coming soon," but rumored for July) for a monthly fee of $9.99. But after some digging by Technologizer, it looks like there may be one small but important detail Hulu didn't specify about the PS3 service: being a member of PlayStation Plus will be a requirement.
As Technologizer explains (via Kotaku), when looking at the source code for Hulu's devices page, a bit of hidden language that doesn't appear on the site itself popped up: "The instructions below will help you install Hulu Plus on your PS3. Note: you must be a subscriber of the Playstation Plus Network." Technologizer even provided a screen grab of the language in the source code (shown above). What's more, a reader later sent in a tip to Kotaku showing that those who activate a preview code for the Hulu Plus service on PS3 are taken to a web page that has the same exact language. Meanwhile, neither Sony nor Hulu have made any mention of PlayStation Plus being a requirement for the Hulu Plus service. So while that means the requirement has not, in fact, been confirmed, the evidence does seem to be mounting. I HOPE they add this to the PSN+ features and that they won't have to pay extra for it...will make PSN+ = a VERY good deal
