Forums - General - I figured out why they made VG 3.0!

They did it for more advertisements. I mean lots more advertisements. You can't click on the link to come to this page without TWO of those self destruct ads. Now the entire background of the site is a giant advertisement. Also, every 2 or 3 times you change pages you now get the self destruct ads. Hmmm, i see a pattern here. On a side note, i have gotten used to the new site but i still prefer the old one. Thoughts?

u r 100% right, both about ads and that the old site is much prefered

well it looks like less people come here now. so no point in ads if no one is gonna see them lol

Yeah, in order for the site to make money they need more adverts. This allows them to get more research into dta and statistics and continue to provide a free service. in doing this though they sometimes put off your average VgChartarian by the adverts but remember they are here for the ultimate purpose of helping you. I prefer the new layout although it took time and effort to adjust.

PS: The adverts use to do my head in as well.

I don't mind the adds other than the fact that some of them are considered viruses. On 3 different computers with 3 different anti-viruses I get virus detections on this site only. The webmasters might have to look into it.

At some point, something must have come from nothing...

...nothing can come from nothing...

omg yes it bugs the hell outta me

that's possible, I always assumed it was because we wanted to show that we were serious about the non-sales parts of the site.  This way every part of the site seems equal.  But I wasn't in the conversations about the new site (I'm not that high up) so I could be wrong on what the main purpose was.

I'm pretty much assuming this too, on another note I don't seem to get the destruction ad's unless I just logged on.

Former something....

Just use an adblocker like everyone else.

I have Firefox adblocker on both of my computers and i still get it everytime, and multiple times. Is there a patch for a better one?
