Forums - Gaming - Hulu coming to PS3 in July, 360 in 2011

Why should you pay $10 period? I could go to Hulu right now, and watch all those things (current seasons and past seasons) right now for free.

Only thing for Hulu should be an internet connection, like it is now (thus making it stupid to block it on the PS3). I don't mind a 15 second advert every 10 minutes

Because television shows are very expensive to make? Hulu plus is going to add more content for paid subscribers than the free site... and honestly, the site is amazing, it should cost money. Do I like it being free? Of course. But there's a reason a couple of my favorite shows died even though lots of people watched it on Hulu. Hulu generates almost no revenue compared to other sources - not enough to help keep the shows you watch on the air, anyway. It's business model requires some kind of payment. On demand viewing with a fraction of the commercials of a TV broadcast? There will be a price, it's unavoidable.

if they wanna make it paid then why the commercials

This service is good if you watch a bunch of T.V. shows, but I'm more of a news/movie kind of a guy. I watch some old shows, but that's about it.

Ever heard of Advertisments? Keeps things free. You can check bigger Podcast networks like twit.tv or Revision3 as proof. Also before cable network tv ran for decades on ads.

Hulu plus may be worth 10 dollars a month if there are no commericals in the show. Does anyone know if this is the case? If you have to pay for the service and have to put up with ads then i'll just stick to torrents.

Two commericials for every set break instead of 5? From what I have seen elsewhere.

Aside from that, I was wondering if this will be PSN or PSN. It'll be the first of many early tests to see which way Sony is going with PSN .

it will be for all for that subscription like NETFLIX not only PSN PLUS as its not one of the features

($10 x 12months) $50 psn subscription = $170 = $ony

I guess I was right. So now:

  • Cross game chat? PSN
  • Clan support? PSN
  • PSN party support? PSN
  • Hulu? PSN
  • Anything new and exciting? PSN
  • New Home areas? Maybe PSN

????

It looks like its going to PSN all the way. If anyone doesn't like this, they had better vote with their wallet and not get PSN . Otherwise Sony is just going to roll out every single improvement to PSN onto the PSN subscription.

Tease.

As likely as it's looking, cross game voice chat has yet to be confirmed for PS Plus.

Given that it was removed last minute from the initial PS Plus package, I get the feeling Sony is gauging early PS Plus demand before deciding whether they need to make a basic OS feature like that PS Plus exclusive to increase demand, or whether they can make it free for all (as it should be) while still getting a decent subscriber base for the new service.

Also, new features are still being provided for non-Plus members, like the recent video editing/uploading software and the new photo gallery.

As it stands now, all new OS features announced since PS Plus was announced (sans auto downloads) have been added free for all (as they cost nothing to support once implemented on a firmware level), while all content and services (Hulu, PS Store discounts, the inevitable cloud storage, etc.) have been added under PS Plus (as they *do* cost money to maintain and support).

The idea that anything "new and exciting" is going to be charged for is incorrect based on what we've seen so far.
