Although if it was just voice commands, it shouldnt take much power, but it wouldnt really be worth it IMO.

you don't need KINECT for voice commands

Thats fine. I understand that. Therefore, Kinect is not a reason to patch games to support voice commands.

Although, personally I hate the 360 headset and the wireless one is too expensive and would most likely hurt my ear while its hanging there.

it can be patched buy one problem is that there are reports that KINECT cannot work with big titles as it takes too much power

so patching it won't it useful as it would be difficult to make KINECT work when Gears 2 is already eating alot of of 360

This. Kinect requires extra processing power. Any core games we seee for Kinect will most likely not be as visually appealing, and must be made from the ground up.

thats what i meant, you just said what i said

that a graphical game like Gears would have problems with KINECT as there not being enough processing power

I know thats what you said...thats why I said 'this.'

I was agreeing with you.

HEHE

you could have just said i agree or atleast add it

its like you were mocking me and taking my comment as being funny

I have heard that Kinect is a resource hog and that trying to patch stuff like Kinect controls and/or additional Kinect features into the older high resource hogging games won't work.

Could maybe work if those titles were downgraded in the graphical department? I really don't know.

but to downgrade those graphis the game will have to be built from start not from a patch

Your probably right. I doubt a simple dropping of Anti-Aliasing and resolution will solve the problem.

Sad really because it would be real nice if at Kinect launch they had ~20 older blockbuster titles supporting Kinect. That would make it a little more enticing to current 360 owners and could help bring in some of the more core players to give it a try.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

leave old titles,it would have been awesome to launch with HALO REACH for sales and exposure and gamers joy too

KINECT is not gonna be any cheaper from the current price sellers are pre-ordering at

and i agree about the 360 headset, they are very cheap too.

It would be good, but I don't see it happening, they want people to buy new games (MS and the developers).

I also think the whole patching idea would have been much more possible if they opted to stick with the hardware solution instead of going software solution. Although this would have undoubtedly brought a higher price tag.

yes the HW solution would have been good for games

but it would be bad when people can't buy it cause it would have been costly, not that its cheap now

Yea its too bad too. I can't justify buying it at $150. Especially considering you can buy a Wii for just $50 more :D.

Marketing fail.

I can understand why headset voice command wouldn't catch on. Most developers probably saw no pressing need to dump the resources into developing the software for their games, but in the case of Kinect the software is now there to easily license, or will be free ware from Microsoft. Thus it wouldn't be a real financial hurdle, and might actually be a real benefit for their games.
