How much should one put aside to get the 3DS at launch?

There's a massive lineup of games, so, it's a no brainer to get at least one game as you pick up the 3DS.

I think the 3DS will launch at $200.

So, $250 would get you the console + game (taxes taxes and more taxes).

$300 should get you 3 games, which is probably what I'd spend on upon getting the console.

Seriously though, I'd guess around 250-300 bucks. But we'll see how expensive the thing will be.

Saving for future game console purchase? No thanks, limiting myself for an unreasonable first day purchase isn't something I would do. I either have the money (I do...) or I'll bother myself with that problem when the time is at hand. It's not like that I don't have a HUUUUGE backlog of games to play, but even if I had none, setting cash aside for a game console / game related stuff seems retarded to me. When I set money aside it's for a good reason (things needed for survival) and enterteinment isn't one of those.

Cameron is increasing VAT, so..... expect things to get worse.

Region lock is for price control that is not in favour of the consumers.

I don't need to set aside money for it though i'll probably end up doing it if i get paid the week before or after the release.

I think around the $300 is about right, probaly more if you know you'll be picking up several games at launch. I myself shall place aside a gentlemenly £450.
