Forums - Microsoft - Really is it that sincere?

Today I finished Rise of the Argonauts for the 360, and honestly if you haven't played this game you missed something really extraordinary. No it isn't the games quality which is just slightly above average. Yes the game is playable, and at times it can be really enjoyable. No what you missed, and I think just about every reviewer out there has missed is this. The game from start to finish is basically Knights of the Old Republic in ancient Greece. No I am not exaggerating these two games are about ninety percent the same. They even share most of the same bugs and glitches. Basically after getting half way through the game I was readily watching to see what was ripped off next. Three quarters of the way through the game I had lost my virginity, and was simply counting off each new instance of copyright infringement. I lost count somewhere well over a hundred.

Honestly I wasn't actually upset it isn't like copying the other guy hasn't been done before. I did actually enjoy the game when the bugs didn't get it the way, and it wasn't as if I paid a lot of money for the honor. I having bought this game used for around fifteen dollars. I enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic, and I enjoyed this game for most of the same reasons. That said if you haven't played the game, and enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic then you might find a treat here. Hell if nothing else your going to have yourself a kind of inner chuckle. You know in watching someone blatantly ripping off a good game only to just create a average game.

This all said I think this is a excellent litmus test for reviewers. Did your favorite reviewer catch on to this. I assure you it is not like seeing Jesus in the trunk of a tree. I say if they didn't then you only have three explanations. The first is that they are just plain lazy. The second is they are just incompetent. The third is they didn't even play the game, or well maybe just a couple hours. Anyway its just one of those things that really gets you thinking.

Oh by the way I think if immitation is the sincerest form of flatery then Bioware should blush, but while they are at it they might want to look at the dialogue system in Rise of the Argonauts. Yes it is actually an improvement over not just Knights of the Old Republic, but over the two Mass Effect games. Seriously no bullshitting guys in that case the student really did become the master. Dialogue choices being directly part of skill development how fucking brilliant is that.

Around the Network

I played it from begining to end and I can honestly say that was a very boring game. Granted there were a few moments I enjoyed and it had a lot of potential. But the game as a whole is mediocre.
