Forums - Sony - Square: FFXIV Online skipping 360 due to “closed” online environment

I think the lack of MMOs has been Microsoft's biggest weakness.  And if I had the money I would gladly buy a PS3 to play DC Online.

Anyway, it worked for Final Fantasy Online, someone at Microsoft is just being a jerk.  Then by not providing us with a Microsoft Game Studio MMO they are being double jerks.

Also thanks for selling me a useless chatpad controller add-on :)

I like how this article took out the rest of this sentence.  In other words, this is NOT a final decision like it is trying to sound and like many people are taking it as.  They are still in talks with MS to try and work something out, they just haven't been able to yet.

Yea...they've been talking since day one to try and get it on the 360, but M$ ain't having it. SE will have to pull a M$ and moneyhat them lol

not a big deal imo, if people really want ff14, they'd buy a ps3 or build a pc, not like the ps3 costs that much these days.

It has, and it can work.  But having a closed system means more control for the system owner.  As long as Microsoft isn't willing to give up enough control to allow SE to do what they think is best for FFXIV since it is their game, then no go.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

You're going to need a powerful PC to run it. My friend downloaded the benchmark software to grade his system to see if it is capable of playing the game, and need a score of 1500 or higher, max 8000. His was 2400, and it is a 2k dollar PC..

its also skippng becaus ff13 flopped on xbox.

thats ridiculous.

is not. ff13 sold bad on xbox, it was pirated a lot too, se lost sales by puttng ff13 on xbox.

It lost sales by putting it on xbox....? thats some weird logic you have there.

btw... there are a shit load of flops if 1.3m is a flop.  The ps3 version only sold 2.2m in the same regions the 360 version was available by the way.

so heavy rain is a flop to? boy if i had a dime for everytime.......

Jordahn, I agree.  But it does seem like a death trap environment for potential MMO ports.  And we all know in general PC games port pretty well to the X-box.  I'm starting to think someone at WoW is paying them not too, just to keep MMOs on the PC.  But honestly I doubt anyone at Activision Blizzard is even slightly worried that their market will reduce.  I hate Blizzard feels the need to be snobbish to consoles in general, but I know that is off topic.

And opened system is normally better than a closed one.  That might be common knowledge to some of us on this site, but it's not as well known by the general public.  And we have a few of those here as well.  Don't shoot the messenger here.

we arent shooting the messenger... it just that this was announced a year ago...

The article quoted was just posted today.  So at worst, info was reiterated.  Nothing wrong with that.

yea nothing wrong with that. atlease now i know. didn't know a yr ago.

He bought his PC years ago or you are lying.  XIV will be normal DirectX 9.0 game because it is also developed for PS3 and so modern PC's will run it fine.  Care to link the benchmark test btw ?

uh no, I ran it just now with maxed out Edge Detect AA and got 4302@1920x1080 and the cost of the parts required to run with that performance doesn't even cost more than a thousand bucks. Your friend either got really ripped off or has an old ass PC.
