Forums - Sony - Square: FFXIV Online skipping 360 due to “closed” online environment

Tanaka said;

"The main reason why we couldn’t go with Xbox 360 was the Xbox Live system,” he told the site at E3. “[Live is] different to the normal internet environment, so when we wanted to introduce this game in the same environment as Windows PC it had to be PS3, so that was our choice.

“Microsoft has a different point of view: they want to have a closed environment for Xbox Live. We’re still talking to… We couldn’t come to an agreement on Xbox Live.”

Sooo~ Thumbs up for Jack Tretton.

[The reason why Final Fantasy XI works with xbox live is because of "Play Online". Square Enix is no longer using that service for Final Fantasy XIV.]

welcome traveler from the past bearing old news, thou hast arrived in the present now, and we mean you no harm!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

this ain't about ff13, this thread is about ff14.

And opened system is normally better than a closed one.  That might be common knowledge to some of us on this site, but it's not as well known by the general public.  And we have a few of those here as well.  Don't shoot the messenger here.

I like how this article took out the rest of this sentence.  In other words, this is NOT a final decision like it is trying to sound and like many people are taking it as.  They are still in talks with MS to try and work something out, they just haven't been able to yet.

The article quoted was just posted today.  So at worst, info was reiterated.  Nothing wrong with that.
