Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: New 3DS Improvements

All your ideas are pretty meh, it will be differentiated by the games, a second aanalog stick is a really bad idea, the difference is screen sizes is fine, since only one is 3D

If you're gonna have the second analog stick there, you might want to consider moving the power button. I wouldn't want any accidental power-offs.

Yes, they should add skype and flash support....for the rest I'm ok with the current one.

About skype, I would be cool to make it run optionally even when the console is in stanby mode, it could ring like a phone when someone calls you, also with the touch-screen below you could play some multiplayer basic games (like chess , tris or battleships) while chatting. It could even work as a way to invite friends playing online normal games.

Flash I don't care, but a better web browser than the DS would be nice as a bedside device for quick online checks when I don't want to head over to the computer. Skype would actually be pretty awesome, as it would mean staying in touch with family while on vacation without having to haul a netbook along.

As a personal improvement idea, I want the microphone to be somewhere else. It seems like it would get in the way in the centre. I want it on the edge of the front like the current DS does.

1) This thing is very powerful, it cannot be made smaller currently. In a couple of years when manufacturing technologies are better it will be possible to make it smaller

2) WTF is it with people and flash? Flash is dead, and it was never good. I understand you want it to have lots of multimedia support, but asking for flash is the wrong way to go. Both Google and Apple are behind HTML5, which means it is the new standard.

3) It will always be flip, for several reasons - sliding is shit, they break and the nice 3d screen will get damaged.

The only thing I can agree with you on is that the screens should be the same size and shape

Around the Network

1. Fix the online service.

2. Make the camera MP better.

3. Make the touch screen multi-touch like iPod Touch and iPhone.

4. Have a 3DSware store.

5. Lots of internal memory, probably like 100 GB. (If iPod can do it, so can 3DS.)

6. Make it harder to hack and pirate on it.

7. Video chat/Pictochat/Text

8. Have Adobe Flash.

9. Let it have multitasking so we can do more than 1 thing at once like iPhone 4.

10. Make 2 SKUs: regular, phone.

If it has everything I listed than this will be perfect.

Do you want to pay 599 US dollars for a handheld?

I basically agree with #1, #3 would be worthwhile if it was cost effective, I expect #4 and #6 are high priorities for Nintendo, #7 I think is conditional on limiting it to people you know, #2 #8 and #9 are pointless for a gaming system, #5 won’t happen because micro hard-drives have an insane failure rate and flash at that size is super expensive, and if you really want #10 buy an iPhone.

I want an always-on online model more like the Xbox360's Live, and an Achievement system incorporated into the thing.  If it's true that Nintendo sought adivice from developers, it's possible some of them may have mentioned that.  Let's hope.

Also, I really want to know the size limit on the 3DS cards.  DS cards are slighly larger than SD cards and those things can reach 32 Gigabytes in size.  I sincerely hope that 3DS cards can handle at least 10 or 16 Gigabytes, which is something like 250,000 times larger than current DS card sizes.  DS cards maxed at a measly 2 Gigabits.  Roughly 4 times the maximum N64 game.

I really don't see the advantage that much of a second analog stick, I loved MP Hunter's touch screen controls.
