ya I was wondering why my Wii wanted to update this morning

The only addition appears to be IOS58, which owners of "Your Shape" will already have. It contains drivers for the USB camera.

it also adds IOS80.

Eh, forgot about that. By now its a given that a new system menu will run off a new IOS.

@Euphoria: that would be pretty smart if it could delete pirated games, but it merely removes the ability to run them by deleting installed channels with particular title codes, and preventing certain other loading / installing methods. I'm sure there will be a new Homebrew Channel with a different title code in a few days, and the countdown to SysMenu 4.4 can begin.

There is an updater that will download the 4.3 files but apply them in such a way that the homebrew channel and cIOS are fine, so that can be used right now. Even with the homebrew channel custom levels in NSMBW won't work without a cIOS and they blocked all the Trucha restoration techniques (as well as bannerbomb so that Homebrew Channel can't be reinstalled). I did the unofficial 4.3 and have no problems (Shop Channel and Check Mii Out still work).

Thanks for the info!! I am hoping for an update that enables transfer of certain files because I would love to get a black Wii, transfer all my stuff to it, and give my old Wii to my niece.

Nintendo should allow an option for this.   If you paid for all the d/l games (which I do because I don't mind giving money to Nintendo) then you should be able re download all your games onto a new Wii (if you claim old Wii is broken).  If your old Wii broke I am pretty sure they will let you re download all the games you paid for previously for free (transfer your Wii account to new system).  Nintendo knows exactly what you bought/ downloaded.  Maybe report your old Wii as broke and get them to set your Nintendo account up on the new Wii?  I don't know anything since my Wii hasn't broke.   Nintendo phone support is pretty bad ass so they may be able to help but not sure what that would do to your old Wii that you claim is broken (which would still have the games on it or be able to play from sd card, maybe they would make the ability to load or play the games null?).  Someone should elaborate on this that actually knows.

Are they ever going to fix the damn clock?

What's wrong with the clock?

I don't know if this is what Resident_Hazard is referring to but my Wii clock seems to be a bit fast.

Mine is off by two or three hours.  I couldn't find a way to set it, and that seemed to be up to Nintendo.  Then again, I gave up looking for a way to set it, like, two years ago.

Those of you with bad clocks must have your settings for your location and daylight savings time set wrong. Mine works perfectly.

The clock will also stop counting if the Wii crashes and you power it off (until you power it on again). That's thrown mine off when bad homebrew kills the Wii. (Thank god homebrew can't write to the Wii's internal memory!)

Wish the update would make the main screen look more appealing or provide something for us legit owners instead of just attacking only the homebrewers.  I'm glad it does affect the homebrew stuff though.  I will try playing Mario Kart Wii again for a day or two until it's cheaters running rampant again.  Then I'll throw the disc to the bottom shelf again.  Homebrew is fine but stay off the online games.  That bullshite is just ridiculous and just takes away from so many people wanting a fun time with others interested in the same.  If Nintendo could find a way to brick a console that's cheating online, I applaud that.  Because those bastards are ruining my fun and $50 purchase of fun games like Conduit and Mario Kart Wii.  HB's should have fun all they want OFFLINE and AWAY from people like me.

Consoles owned: NES, N64, PS1, GC, PS2, Wii.
