Forums - Sony - Need a PS3 steering wheel for upcoming GT5 and other racing games.

it's feel like cheap rubber. It works better than my Obutto rubber mat glued to the pedal plate. After wrapped this liner over the plate my pedals don't move an inch.

Do u use your G27 for your PC too?

Let's pretend I have my PS3 in the living room and my PC in the bedroom, how easy is the G27 to move between those rooms? Will it be something you only would want to do very seldom?

yes with  Fanatec Clubsport pedals. I use G27 pedals with PS3 which is why I don't want to hard mount them.  (can only use CSP with a fantec wheel on ps3 which I don't own one. )

G27 shifter is separate unlike DFGT so you have three part to move  (instead of two) but you should have  no truoble moving it. I put some tape across the wire on the bottom of the wheel to help keep the wires in place (when I move it) as everything connects under the wheel.

So this means you switch the wheel between PS3 n PC? Is it annoying to switch?

Just get a Driving Force GT. Its about $120 and it works with PS3 and PC. Its also specifically made for GT5 so if you intend to play that game a lot then this is the perfect wheel for you.

We're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in.

Not really. I bought a 24" Samsung montior which also a HDTV so it easier for me to move my PS3 to my cockpit. But with 360 I only have the cheap X360 wheel so I do have to move my wheel and pedal (g27 doesn't work for 360). It's a little annoying  but I don't change them around often. I usually have the  360 hooked up  for a week or two then switch back to pc/Ps3.

I myself use a Logitech G25 mounted on a Playseat Evolution (http://www.playseats.com/)

Just remember that the Logitech wheels do not work with the 360 so if you have one or plan to get one and the next Forza on it as well then id recommend a Fanatec Racing wheel. They are expenisive but atleast you dont have to buy seperate wheels for a 360 and PS3.

Now if you only intend to play racing games on the PS3 and PC then i definitely suggest the Logitech wheels. The best and cheapest wheel is the Logitech Driving Force GT Pro. (http://www.logitech.com/en-au/gaming/wheels/devices/4172)

I would recommend buying from ebay as you will get them cheap brand new from Hong Kong (originals and not fakes). I bought my Logitech G25 when it just came out and paid $250 AU from ebay while they still retail new here in Australia for $300 (rip off). With the G27 that came out not long ago you should be able to get the G25 cheaper. It is one of the best wheels out there on the market so you wont be disappointed with it. Also you wont need to upgrade for a long time (unless you break it).

As for mounting it. There is 2 options. Build/buy a racing cockpit or buy a small table which you can slide your feet under and mount it to the table and off you go. IKEA has tables perfect for them for less then $50. So im sure you can search around and find something. But nothing beats a racing cockpit or a Playseat for a true experience.

I have the Driving Force Pro

Will I be able to use this on the PS3 for GT5?

Yeah you can.

the major downside of a cockpit is it take up room probably not ideal if you want to race in the lkiving room. On ebay there are wheel stands that is design to play and easy to put away.  If you do buy a DFGT one trick is you can use sponges to help add resistance to the pedals as DFGT pedals are weak.
