I'm a good shot, but if I shot a handgun from the hip at 10 yards, forget about the bullet not going where I wanted it to, I probably wouldn't hit the target at all. I can't even imagine where the shot would go with an M60. If anything some of the guns (M16, AK47) are TOO accurate when aiming through the crosshair. |
Yeah, but thank God we're not controlling sinha in COD4, we're controlling trained super-soldiers...so yeah, there should be at least some accuracy. |
Who knew Iraqi Republican Guard types were "trained super-soldiers"... certainly Walter Sobchak would disagree. As for controlling me, you could probably do a lot worse since I shoot about once a week. "so yeah, there should be at least some accuracy." And THERE IS, simply hold down the left trigger and the elite supersoldier you're using will AIM. And hey, ignore the guy two posts above you who says "Sinha is right about that, its a bitch and a half to shoot from the hip, its hardly accurate. I have some experience in this being a former Marine, and you never really shoot from the hip." |
OK, some more realism, you wouldn't dare shoot from the hip in a fire fight, if i'd caught one of my guys doing that, even in training, i would have busted him so hard - being a former British Army infantry officer, i've seen a lot of stupid things, but shooting from the hip wouldn't be acceptable. The British Army (as well as our allies) demand high standards of prefessionalism, that includes firing down an AIMED rifle.
In a fire fight, with friendly forces all around and enemy firing back, you will only have the opportunity to fire a few well aimed shots without shooting either one of your own or being shot by someone else, you have to make sure those shots count. in fact, the SA80 standard issue assult rifle the UK forces use is partly designed to require the weapon to be placed in the shoulder when firing, you try firing that thing from the hip and you'd be lucky to hit a barn from the inside.
The fact this game forces you to aim i think is really realistic. in fact i think the whole game is particularly realistic. i've never worked with the SAS, but the US Marine missions are about as frantic and chaotic as it really is.
