So I sold my olf laptop/desktop and got back about $2k back from taxes. I already had some surplus money so I decided to build a new PC. I downed 1.5k and ended up with this:

-EVGA GTX 480

-Core i7-930

-GSkill 6gig DDR3 1600 triple channel RAM

-Asus mobo with USB3/SATA 6 Gb/s

So far it has been running like butter even in Metro 2033 Very high running Dx11, So I was just wondering if anyone had any applications that I can force this machine to its knees?

Do you have access to Premiere CS5? Apparently there's a little work around you can do to get some Cuda cards that aren't currently officially supported working with the Mecury Playback Engine. I was thinking about building a new tower and perhaps getting a student license of Production Premium CS5 and I'm curious to know if/how well the work around performs on the GTX 470/480.

Not a bad set up. This is more than Nvidia 3D vision ready.

Is the mobo SLI ready? Power supply over 1000 watts?  If it is, you are set for the next 10 years of gaming... :)

To punish it, can you try 3D Mark 06? Wondering what the GPU benchmark is...

bwahahaha...yes that will do the punishing alright. Maybe overclock it slightly too, and make sure its in a small mid tower case with no case fans.

My GTX card is overclocked and fan is at 80%...sounds like a little jet plane. :)

It actually support tri-SLI however the slots go down to x8/x8/x4 speeds so it kind of defeats the purpose. I am also probably not going to tap SLI until this starts to give out after I OC it (currently there is no OCing going on at all). Then I'll worry about something more than the 800W PSU I got.

P.S. For shits and giggles I turned the fan of the 480 top 100%. I swear my PC started to hover, I also imagine this is what teh scream of a thousand demonic babies sounds like.

Btw the GTX 485 is coming out soon.

I was just barely able to OC the card to the supposed 485 specs. It was quite hard to do it with the given increments on the sliders.
