In fairness to Halo 3, it was an entertaining game, and they did tweak the game-play for the better, but, yes, it's all cotton candy and no vitamins -- the "Spiderman 3" of videogames. Big budget, big effects, everyone's got to have it... but a surprisingly average game with average voice-acting (except for the voice-actor for the Arbiter, who did a damn fine job), and the sort of character development and storyline which makes CoD4 look like "King Lear."
KZ2 will live or die not on graphics or shading techniques, though, but on storyline. Give us compelling, interesting characters and a gripping backstory, and I'm sold. Give us cardboard cutout heroes from a WW II movie and... well, I'd rather rent the BluRay version of "The Longest Day", thank you very much.
