If good graphics didn't move Uncharted: Drake's Odyssy, don't hold out much hope for a sequel to a game that was infamous for its mediocrity.

Uncharted has been out for a WEEK, In America where Sony is playing catch up. FFS, you cant just push a game into the flop pile cause of one weeks sales (which, 130k, ISNT bad).

Uncharted has more than good graphics, it had excellent graphics and fantastic gameplay. Theres no reason Killzone wont have the same.

QFT :D I also think that if Killzone 2 delivers, it'll be a great boost for American sales. Imagine seeing that game in a demo booth at your local bestbuy/equivalent *drool*

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I think people are hoping too much for what Killzone 2 will achieve in sales. Face it, you're going to be let down by its sales if you expect too much of this, now nitche, franchise.

And in regards to Uncharted, while it may have good legs, the first week sales are typically the best, the most you can hope for is a christmas push, but that's assuming the PS3 hasn't already blown its laod with the 40GB SKU. Time will tell.

If graphics meant that a game was going to be high quality Lair would have been the game of the year ...

The Killzone series has been overhyped since it was first announced, always sold as a "Halo Killer" that was going to take the world by storm. In the end the first Killzone was a mediocre game that has no evidence (except for a forum post) that the game ever sold more than a million copies.

The one thing that makes me doubt that Killzone 2 will live up to the hype more than anything else is that this game has been under development for a very long time and very little has ever been truely displayed; it was claimed that Killzone 2 was well under development at E3 2005, and almost 3 years later it hasn't been widely demonstrated in a playable form. I have seen this type of behavior from a publisher before when they have allowed an underqualified development team to produce a project that is beyond their means to manage, and it doesn't end well ...

@ Happy Squirrel

QFT - I couldn't have said it better.

Wasn't Killzone 2 being developed by hundreds of people with a budget more than 40 million dollars?

That might have something to do with it.

Gears of War Delivered, Bioshock Delivered, Halo 3 delivered, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT Killzone 2 WON`T Deliver???

Because Killzone 2 hasn't delivered yet.  It doesn't even have a release date.

Does that mean it's going to suck? I don't know. Assassin's Creed looked amazing, but it turned out to be a game that feels like it was designed to be showed off in 10 minute chunks at game conventions. Flops happen.

However, keep in mind Street Fighter 1 was a pretty mediocre fighter, didn't even get much arcade attention.

It didn't have any impact on the quality and success of Street Fighter 2.

Killzone 1 was overhyped because the PS3 needed a "killer FPS", so did it let down being a "halo killer"? Of course :D the fanbase of halo is absurdly huge. Was it a decent game? Yeah it was :) I enjoyed it ^_^. Killzone Liberation however is a GREAT game, definitely worth owning in my opinion.

And about Killzone 2, almost EVERY review site/person thats gotten there hands on with it has given nothing but praise. There is no reason why this game doesn't have the possibility of delivering. Overhyped? Sure, but I have a feeling it will be a solid game. The first one was.

I expect KZ2 to do well and be profitable on the PS3. It's an FPS, multiplayer, and has everything for Americans to give it some love. I think Sony has predicted this to be their hit FPS, when as other people mentioned, Resistance is actually taking that spot.

It's a game of Microsoft trying to make an RPG presence, and Sony trying to make an FPS presence. Microsoft is trying to do the same thing with Lost Odyssey and compete against FF13.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I am still trying to figure how folks can say something is a great game and it's not even released yet. You'll end up looking rather silly if it flops like John Kerry.

I hope for your sakes the game is awesome, but based on previous killer AAA titles for the PS3, I would rather beat on Resistance 2 than this. I just don't see it happening.
