If I'm not mistaken, the first game was barely above average. I didn't know graphics had so much on how a game is received.

In the 2005 E3 Sony press conference, they showed amazing footage of soon to be released Killzone 2. It was the most real amazing piece of game footage ever seen. Millions of forums went up for Killzone 2 vs Gears of War, Killzone 2 vs Halo 3, etc. The only thing was that it turned out to be fake and was completely CGI. In fact, at the time, they hadnt even written a single line of code for the game and it was only a tech demo of what they "hoped" the game would look like.
