Forums - Gaming - Graphical comparison: Naked Sample 3D vs Snake eater

I know some of the pictures on ps2 are a bit blurred, I'm sorry, it's difficult to find well detailed and clean pictures of older game consoles. @ Rohnin thanks for posting that video.

imo the 3ds demo shows better texture detail and lighting while the backgrounds are more crafted and detailed on ps2, probably because of the smaller screen, they have employed most horsepower in the close-up on 3ds. At the end they both look great, but after I saw that video (thanks again Rohnin) I think that overall the new version looks better, now I'll wait to see this 3D.

A lot of PS2 games had a "Vaseline filter" because of the technique they used to eliminate aliasing. Images from these games were never that clear regardless of how they were captured.

obviously good.. PSP is about as powerful as PS2, looks like 3DS is more powerful than PSP

I have to agree.  I have Peacewalker and even with its 800MB install, despite it looking beautiful and playing great, it isn't as well made as MGS3.  No swimming, long load times, smaller areas, no dragging bodies, etc. etc..  The game fits the bill as a portable Metal Gear (I'll finally admit that Portable Ops really didn't fill my hunger for a Handheld Metal Gear) but you can tell a lot of compromises had to be made.  If the 3DS version is better than the PS2 version of MGS3--still my favorite game of all time--then, wow!!

I think that 3DS is looking way better , cuz if you take a second look on the ps2 game looks like there is some kind of filter that makes everything a little bit blur... Also you cant compare cuz u know 3DS is in 3D ...hasuhdausd

thats what i was thinking, the ps2 games almost look like they are blured/smudged or something to make the polygons not be visible or something.  kind of a cloudy look.

but really are people going to be comparing big screenshots to a ds screen shot, and also comparing 2d screenshots to 3d screenshots that we can't see.

but nice to at least see a comparison that yes wow this game is indeed ps2 level graphcis.

I hear that developers say its Wii and maybe even close to the HD.  I am really skeptical on that until I see some proof of them showing off something.  But I can drool for a mario galaxy in 3d, wow.

WOW!

Mind you, these are just launch titles.

A few years down the line, when people are accustomed to the tech, we can see wonders. And hopefully more old school remakes. FF5 through 9 please lol

I love my PSP.  You hear me?  I LOVE IT.  I have never been more hyped for a product than I am for the 3DS.  Man, Nintendo hit a homerun with this one!  We own FIVE DS's (and two PSP's).  I'll be adding that 3DS to the pile without so much as a second thought!

So, I'll get to play the ONLY console MGS I missed... on a handheld?

3DS looks sharper, oddly enough, but the PS2 environments look more detailed.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
