Edge doesn't like too.

And about Natal: "Based on today’s demos, the true appeal of Microsoft's 'full body controller' lies, as many will have suspected, in everything but the games."

They make a good point. That alone could be a huge selling point. Combined with ESPN it could be huge! Xbox Replay ftw.

OT: I'm not sure why having to have a surprise announcement in the presentation is still relevant. There are so many leaks these days it's almost impossible to keep surprises a secret.

Overall I thought they did what they needed to do. It was done well.

Maybe the press, who are mostly hardcore gamers, are feeling the future of gaming moving away from the games they grew up playing, and moving toward games for newer and/or mass market gamers.

I know that the day of single player RPGs is getting close to being done. MMOs are the future for RPGs.

(Maybe I'm just a little mad at the press after reading responses in live feeds to certain conferences. Some of the reporters have no respect for the developers or have a clue what gamers other then themselves want. )

But th ething you have to understand is that the crowd youre referring to, the "casual", dont pay their bills. They dont frequent blogs, websites, ad dollars.....thats like asking Fox News to endorse president Obama, these journalists are employees of a company, and theyre employees of a company that caters to a specific audience, what NEEDS to happen is there needs to be a company or organization perhaps who reports and blogs and dictates for a casual gamer, however is there a market for that?

Im not so sure we should expect our gaming websites to morph, they cater to "us", we need NEW websites and journalists to cater to the shift in demographic. Its tricky, thats for sure.

What's more important for them right now is expanding into new markets and getting more mindshare.  Who cares if the casuals don't pay their bills now, at least they have a foothold so that maybe next time they sell something a lot more people will have eyeballs on it then just the current core demoographic, who is still buying the yearly CODs/Halos/core games.

The tears of the so called "core" and "hardcore" demographics are delicious.

Wagram, but there were. though MS didn't show them properly. Joyride, Sonics Free Riders(guess it's sequel to Sonic Riders), Star Wars game, Child of Eden are core games. i think people really forget what core game is(right now i can see that anything that remotely speak "kiddy" from graphics means either "casual" or "shovelware" to all those pseudo hardcore gamers).

Yay a Star Wars game on rails that looked boring as shit.

A Sonic game, YAY we all know how the last 10 have turned out!

Joy Ride is not hardcore, and LOL CHILD OF EDEN!

Graphics has nothing to do with the games. They could have had any of those games in full blown 1080p HD and I still would have said they sucked.

Well I guess most of you arent happy with IGN's review of the conference.  http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1096820p1.html

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Just like here, some people enjoyed it. That doesnt upset anyone, why should it? Does it upset you the vast majority didnt enjoy it? No. or at least it shouldnt.

I was watching it, but I ended up watching something else instead.
