I just hope the next one goes back to the foundations laid out in RE4 - that was my game of the year at the time, RE5 was a bit of a let down in comparison :(

These experts said a lot of similar things about Square-Enix, but they still suck SE's dick and anxiously await every announcement with baited breath despite the fact that Square hasn't released a good game in almost a decade, so I don't see why Capcom should give a shit. |
u dnt undrstnd about jpn culture. if re goes xcluisive to western system thn jpnese will reject re6 in th country, this means a whole market will be alineatd, with squre they kept ff13 xclusive in jpn so jpnese bought th game.

The most special thing capcom can do is re-hire their old staff... You know, the guys who created Resident evil and did every good RE game ever made.

So the RE1-3 guys?

Is that the guy who took Resident Evil 4, gave it a re-skin and coop and sold it as a new title 4 years later?
I kid I kid...you and me went down this path once before.
I meant the Kamiya/Mikami combo. They can actually fire everyone that made devil may cry 4 and resident evil 5 and hire platnum games once their Sega contract is up.
In the meantime Capcom can milk some old sequels other than RE. How about a Dino Crisis/Onimusha games?
| KylieDog said: After RE4 I personally hope Mikami never touches another Capcom franchise. As to new games for older series... http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=110890&page=1&str=1875073702# |
Lets look at things realisticly here and put personal prefferences aside...
How many AAA new IPs has capcom done since they booted Clover/Mikami? I can think of 2...Dead Rising, Zak and Wiki. I define AAA games as stand out games with great critical reception.
Better yet, how many good games have they done this gen? SF4, Dead Rising, RE5, Zak...anything else?
Every gen before this one Capcom would have a AAA new IP almost every year as well as amazing sequels to their games. I mean, last gen you had Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Killer 7, Devil May Cry...
This gen, all they seem to be doing is milking the sequels which were successful in sales. You may not want Mikami to touch another Capcom game, but without RE4, RE5 as it is does not exist.
There obviously is a lack of creativity within that company right now, compared to Capcom standards in the past.
While we look at people that moved on who have made games like Bayonetta, No more Heroes, Madworld and Vanquish(fingers crossed this turns out amazing as it looks). All are great, creative new IPs which would have fit in wonderfully with capcoms future game portfolio...
Otherwise, I am curious what they do at E3. they seem to be very sales oriented so it wouldn't surprise me if we see RE6, DMC5 or SF5... But I hope I'm wrong, and they actually bother making some new stuff which they can milk next gen. :)
Resident Evil 6 next year (2011) would be possible. Probably one of the main reasons it took 4 years to do RE5 was because of the new HD graphics engine, co-op and in general more difficult coding for PS3 and simultaneous programming for 360. Maybe the team size was also still relatively small compared to what we see now in western game companies.
Anyways, I think its feasible for RE6 to release within 2 years of making RE5 if they keep the same engine and have been quietly working on production since RE5. To release in time for the movie in September however is likely too soon especially considering we haven't heard anything about it and we're only 3 months away.
@KylieDog
I can't tell from your above post. Are you a fan of Resident Evil 4?
