no it won't work on 360 and it won't change the RROD thing too
you aren't understanding why PS3 rebranding worked
PS1 and PS2 were the most succesful consoles ever and the PS still has a big name.I mean alot of people still know what Playstaion means.
everybody wanted to buy a PS3 but it was expensive and it has different genre's of games, not exactly like what the previously PS1 and PS2 had
also it was considered a serious kind of console and serious games.PS1 and PS2 were considered to be the fun machine
so rebranding and price cut worked
as for 360,it is already at a low price.it has already been bought by everybody that had XBOX and it already is know as the 'COOL' and fun machine.
Plus its only in US that it is popular and there is has been exhausted even at a very low price
RROD is an issue but not that much.A person that goes in to buy a console doesn't at that moment think whether the console will die or not.He goes to buy a consoles think how much fun he will have with it and all the excitement.
So 360 rebranding won't do much
now if NATAL is a hit then it will make a people buy 360's but rebranding won't play much of a part in it

No offense, but that's the most convoluted and round about reasoning I've ever heard. The PS3 rebranding worked because it dropped the price on the console by 100 dollars. The 360 rebranding will work fine.
A few things. The 360 is popular in places that aren't the United States. The RRoD stigma has significantly held back its popularity in Europe, imo, and a rebranding of any big 3 console will work a little, a redesign will work a lot. You can try to justify it to yourself all you want, but the 360 will see a sustained sales surge assuming there is a rebranding and redesign off the console.
In my opinion, it's the price cut that propelled the slim, and not so much the redesign. I think that due to the nature of RRoD, the redesign will help the 360 far more than it did the PS3(which isn't to say that it will have as big of an impact as a 100 dollar price cut).
If the 360 manages a redesign, rebranding, and successful Natal/Reach launch this holiday, then it will probably beat Sony handily, and Sony will have a SHTF scenerio on their hands. If there is one thing you foriegners underestimate about us American's it's our ability to buy redundant shit just because it's new. I don't really care if the rebranding works or not, but I can't see ANY WAY that it could possibly not make sales skyrocket for the console at least in the short term, assuming it manages a 199 pricepoint.
Again, at last E3 MS stated that they have a gameplan in motion to beat Sony this generation saleswise, and they probably weren't blowing smoke.

360 will be doing a redesign and rebranding but that won't help them much.Yeah many existing user will buy it again for the new form factor but not the new userbase so much.again it will make most of its effect in US only as the people like you said just run behind the new 'COOL' thing.
yes the $100 price cut helped but the PS3 SLIMMER helped in changing PS3's brand image and bringing back the PS2 generation FUN image and AWESOME machine to have
360 has already surpassed what XBOX was.
also even if NATAL was to come with ARCADE at at $199 it just won't beat the Wii and not the PS3 WW.
also SONY can cut PS3's price to $250 easily this fall for the 120gb SKU but i think they will only do if 360 price cut has an impact and they will still be able to profit
if MS said they have a gameplan doesn't mean its gonna succeed and a company as big as SONY just won't sit and watch. They have been the leader in the past to remember
