Microsoft Preparing to Possibly Rebrand the Xbox 360: Xbox 360+ ?
A little over a year ago, we were the first to break the news of a new Xbox 360 code name called ‘Xbox 360+’ scheduled for release with Natal. Now it seems the Xbox 360 is not the only thing that will get re-branded.

In case you missed the article about the 'Xbox 360+' from June 2009, you can check it out here. 

For a quick run down there was one very unique comment made form our leak: “X360+ as MS said already will be re-launch. Re-launch not because they added motion support but to cut from famous RRODs, E74 etc. They are planning to do it like sony did with PSP - you know PSP-3000 AND PSPgo - similar possibilities yet 2 different SKUs.” 

Now it seems that may become a reality as two box arts for upcoming games, Kane and Lunch 2: Dog Days and Deus Ex: Human Revolution have been spotted sporting a new header design. Take a look below:

It’s also noteworthy to know that the new design is also featured in Microsoft’s Natal and E3 invites: 



With Microsoft already on record for saying they plan to launch Natal like the launch of a new Xbox, like the launch of the Xbox 360 only bigger, this makes perfect sense for Microsoft to do. Also seeing how successful Sony’s ‘re-launch’ of the PS3 went for them with the slim, Kevin Butler ads, and their “It Only Does Everything” slogan, one shouldn’t be too surprised from this. They even completely did the box art to support the new PS3 logo and look. Also with the leaked motherboard that appeared on the net a few months ago, this is beginning to seem very likely.

I think its a good plan for microsoft to relaunch the 360, and i think that it will most likely happen. But those boxarts look horrible.



End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Ithink that would be great for MS, hopefully they will launch it in september with Reach to boost Reach sales with a bundle.

I really do believe M$ are in a perfect position to be number 1 in sales WW this holiday and for the next year. They have to chuck a ton of marketing behind this relaunch. 

With Natal 360 bundle for same or less than Wii, it really could be a new era this gen. I will re buy my 360 for a new model with Natal. 

To be honest I think many will. I dont think sales of individual Natal units will be that high. It will be mainly new 360 Natal bundles that will sell. Sending the 360 WW figures above Wii for sometime. 

I think we are in for a shock this holiday. Serious 360 sales.

no we won't see 360 over Wii

moreover 360's rebranding won't make much impact as as they are just trying to do what SONY  did with PS3 rebranding last year.

PS3's rebranding only worked cause Playstation 3 was seen as a fat and expensive machine and so they wanted to rebrand it to make it a fun machine,360 is already that and still selling so low.I don't know what will they be rebranding for

NATAL will be the deciding factor but not 360's rebranding

 

also 360 plus NATAL will not be lower than Wii.It can be equal but no way lower.

Yeah I say its a fair assumption that MS will be re-branding the 360.  The new box arts are slightly better then the old ones imo.

box art doesn't look that diff or too bad in my opinion, anything that points towards a close 360 slim launch is fine by me.
