Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: MS and Sony motion devices are “threatening”

Still fun talking about it though haha.

Still i see them having mixed everything up. this is a atk on PSP not PS3 it just dosent make sense.

Mabe what they are saying is this will beat PSP graphics power. Anything more is stupid

Though it would be funny if the vitality add on would be tied in

id be very shoked lol

The 3DS would be geared at Sony as a company rather then one system. Sony is ready to jump on the 3D bandwagon. They want to make TVs 3D, video games 3D, movies 3D, heck, probably even phones. Sony has all of those devices in their library of products. If Nintendo wanted to take them down, they would destroy their 3D efforts.

@DixieKong:Nintendo has always been known for cheap hardware, and since their hardware is geared with the idea to grow the market, they would usually keep it cheap. The 3DS may be $200 at most.

Ya i think you got it right on there. that sounds like it fits the picture.

Its Nintendo saying hey you want to funk with are Stuff then take it right back in the eye.

Plus I have to admit the PSP looks like its up against the ropes right now, as far as sells.

Ya if Sony was trying to make this there execlusive then Nintendo has pissed on there cake.

Hehe.

I hope Xbox jumps in at E3 and we can have a 3 way Battle royal!!!

Fun times!

@Smashchu2 I certainly hope you're correct in regards to the cost and hardware of the 3DS. It just doesn't seem like Nintendo to make a super powerful and expensive handheld, but this is what I've been hearing some people saying and it had me rather worried, since I don't want Nintendo to make the same mistake they did the previous generations.

They should have not used the disc format, or jumped to 3d graphics, or announced a "3D DS" after sony announced a 3D PS3 a year before hand.. because if they feel that "copying" is such a bad thing, they should stop being hypocrites.

They really annoy me with their high and mighty attitude. They don't OWN motion, and natal is even a different form of motion yet it's copying?

And the Atari Lynx and Game Gear didn't copy the Gameboy  because people were already playing games on pocket calculators. I suppose Nintendo is a hypocrite for going 'colour' too.

If we're looking for a 'high and mighty attitude' we might want to take a look at Sony and MS first comments about the Wii 4-5 years ago. Besides they are the only company in the gaming industry that has the right to a 'high and mighty attitude'.

We really need to learn the difference between regular tech advancement that anyone can do like colour or HD and the game changing tech Nintendo comes up with. Sony and MS could just as easily be Panasonic or Toshiba for all they bring to gaming.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Well i think Nintendo is trying to attack Sony with the 3DS but I'm a little worried about it i don't know why

I find the colorful language hilarious. I'll let my Economics teach know that Perfect Competition is really pissing on ones cake.

I think the biggest mistake people have made is saying Nintendo is not competing. They very much are. Distruption is about disrupting companies. I think some have written off Nintendo too early.

Oh, and while I'm here, I think Sony will show a PSP2 with 3D. A good reason why the 3DS was shown early.

I was reading that Sony has pulled out of there PSP showcase booth.

In other words i think they are not showing anything at all, is what i understood. It was in a podcast over at Nintendolife.com i think.

Its not always friendly competition.  lol

Either Sony is showing off the PSP2 (which may not be on the show floor, thus no booth) or they are done with handhelds.

People here tend to think Sony is invincible. That is definatly not true. Every company can be defeated one way or another. However, we'll have to wait till E3. If they have no PSP at all, I would be shocked.

Sony may think a 3 way war in the handheld is a waste of there time and resource considering Apple is on its way in. There might be more to the story.

In that same podcast they mentioned that there is somthing big to be announced after the show when they get a chance to sit down with the developers.  This sounds like they have something really big in the works for 2011. I really liked that part lol =)

As long as Nintendo keep showing a vision of inovation for the betterment of mandkind, consumers in general will buy and support them, if and only on the fact they know there is a greater good, to be achived. Kind of like Oprahism.Thats something thats fundamentaly missing in NA way of doing buisness and our company's.

Whow man Far out dude!

I know what some of you are thinking lol

Just a thought. I know one of the big reason I bought my Wii is to support Inovation and the WiiFit cause i wanted to be more active and support inovation. I may go a bit far with the Oprah Winfey thing but thats just for fun. But still  is there to provok thinking. Its not like anyone can disagree that she has found a huge untaped Marketable consumer base.

I know you guys say Consule's sell because of Software and ill agree. But i think that a strong case can be made that the Wii more then not, sold because Nintendo and there Public ad Campagn did a really good job of relating a  really positive VISION of what video games could be instead of this very negitive Gun game position its at right now.

Some would argue it was the Movement tecknologie and again Id say Inovation/Vision of a better world (orGaming in this case) contributed to its success more then anything.

As silly as this may sound to any of you. Its the essence of why I own a Wii

Selling a clear positive Vision.

They are most certainly not invincible. LG and Samsung's korean invasion of the home entertainment sphere is absolutely killing Sony now. Sony are too expensive, and these competitors are doing exactly what Nintendo is doing, moving up market, and it is working.

@Albion- re: comment below.

I completely agree with your reasoning behind the support for the Wii, and id hesitate to guess that alot of older gamers have thought the same thing when buying it.

Not only are you communicating exactly why Sony and MS won't be as successful as the Wii short or long term, but you're also explaining why Nintendos long term brand will capitalise on this view of the video game industries changes generally.

People are getting fit by playing games? Nintendo did it.

People are exercising their brains? Nintendo did it.

It is supremely ironic that Sony and MS continue to push the exact opposite image about Nintendo (not advancing in their defined boundries, therefore not advancing at all) while completely missing the lost potential at the same time.

If the PSP2 is not colourful, mainstream friendly or stacked with casual/more mainstream type games next gen. it really wil be the end of Sony's handheld "successes", it simply will not survive. If its not because of Nintendo, its because of the IPhone.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
