Forums - Sony - I think Home will sell consoles

Never in any generation has something along the lines of home, an optional feature, ever been a selling point. People aren't out there waiting for Home to buy the PS3. And if people are then really just turn the damn PC on and get Second Life for free.

I mean it could be a minor selling point but it's nothing huge in that scenario.

Yea, cause PC's are free arent they. Second life maybe free, like home, but the platform you play it on isnt.

People saying that home isnt going to do anything need to take a step back; the majority of PS3 owners or potential owners see the online service as average, and anyone who's played on Xbox Live knows theres a better feel to it.

Home itself will increase this feeling of mediocrity for the PSN and push it forward, theres so much to do with the thing. Achievements, mini-games, launching games from Home to play with your friends. I agree with most that it most have a massive "OMG Home!" effect when its released, but I think alot of people will look at home as another great feature to make them want to buy the PS3.

You never know how these things will turn out. Alot of people did not imagine the effect waggle would have on the Wii - and looks where it is now. Not saying it will, but its hard to predict things that become cool or get turned down in society.

yeah so many unpredictable things have happened this gen

I don't think it will exactly sell consoles, but it will be a nice compliment to the network. Then, there is also the trophy rewards for games, ability to get a party of people and jump into games, ect.

The things I'm mostly looking forward with home are the enhancements to the network and how you play your games.

I just don't see it. It looks kind of boring. I'd also worry about the creepy people that might be attracted to such an environment. I don't think I'd want my kids any where near it.

Big fan of friend codes I bet, huh?

Home will be the best game ever... wait... it's not a game? Oh well... Um...

You're so funny.  So elite, you are.

Anyway, I agree that Home will sell systems.  PSN has needed achievements for some time, and Home will deliver a hopefully better system than Live by giving players rewards for their achievements.  Home has so much ambition that I just hope it gets here and delivers.

Oh, and it does include mini-game type events.

The world is an unfriendly place and scary in a lot of ways.

Children will be exposed to the less pleasant aspects eventually.  Better to do it while you're at their side where you can do something about it and prepare them to deal with it when you're not.  Sheltering them just makes them that much more vulnerable.

So, "Home", a place to expose your kids to an unfriendly and scary place in a kid safe environment. Parental supervision required. Is that what you're trying to say?

No, no. That's Xbox Live. Go back to Albuquerque, hang a right, and keep going until you get to "j00 sux0rs" street and it'll be right there.
