Forums - Sony - I think Home will sell consoles

I have a sneaking suspicion that Sony has overpromised on Home.

I guess it's just a Pavlovian response. This generation, Sony has conditioned me to expect failure at every step.

no

I'll take the case!!!

Sony and its ideas will be changing the face of gaming and how gamers view their console with Home.

Consoles and gaming are evolving into something better.  Sony sees all the potential the PS3 has and is working hard to bring that potential to the forefront and translate it into something gamers can all enjoy.  Home is just another step on the PS3's road to greatness.

I don't see Home selling systems and I don't think Live sells systems, I just think they are good services for someone who already has the consoles.

Also, Home is not the equivilant of Live, the PSN is. Home is doing much more than Live is even trying to do.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

home wouldn't sell me on a ps3. then again i have an xbox and don't have a live account, my interest in second life is less than zero, i have a facebook account but only to shut my obsessd friends up. i guess what i'm trying to say is i think home is lame-o but maybe i'm just not the right audience. xD

The reason that Xbox Live helped sell the Xbox and also the 360 is because it was "revolutionary" for consoles. Live offered the first true online gaming experience for console gamers, and for that reason it helped sell the xbox. Right now, it dont believe it has too much of an effect on sales, and while home will help shift some PS3s it wont be massive. The PS3 alreasy has online and its not exactly selling out.

I think painting the PS3 blue would sell more consoles than Home.

I don't really understand the reasons for which home would be successful. It's basically an online meeting place for people with PS3's. Sure, okay but wouldn't people rather meet up in person? Or at least use skype or other internet communicators that don't cost a thing? What is the point of creating a a copy of you life on home, when one should worry about real life? If i'm missing something then please explain what.
