I don't think it will be higher rated or sell more copies if it was called a Zelda game. It copies like paying respect as well as making a parody out of it, but it lacks many of the things that makes a real Zelda game

i think one thing it didn't have to make it a real Zelda game is not having Zelda in it LOL

I always hear about how the game isn't good because it copies Zelda, yet Zelda's been copying itself since Ocarina of Time every game and 3DDGH is the most refreshing "Zelda"-like experience I've had since God-knows-when. It's quite ironic that 3DDGH's greatness is belittled because it copies Zelda, when Zelda is an even bigger offender of it.

The answer is obvious. Zelda, like Mario gets a free ride. Any flaws would be overlooked and it would get an auto 9+ from a majority of reviewers. And if it truly deserved a 9+ then it would get an auto 10.

3D dot game heroes is the most fun I've had with a "Zelda" game since Link to the past to be honest.

So New Super Mario Bros. Wii got a 9+ aggregate when I wasn't looking?

Nintendo series do not get free rides.

This^^ Not to mention it would get loads more sales, people buy up zelda without even thinking.

yeh but you could customise your character to make it look like zelda or link:):)

wii fans, just give it a chance i am telling you it is basically a spiritual successor to the original zelda!!

Nintendo games don't get a free ride. If anything it would probably get rated lower because it lacks the nintendo polish you find in a zelda game and Myamoto upending the table to make it great.

If it were an actual zelda game it'd proably be much better in the first place. I haven't played it, but from the vids, it seems that most of it's appeal is the retro feel, whereas the controls and gameplay elements, lack the polish that are a trademark of zelda and mario games.

I'm not saying the game is bad, just that there are many key differences with a zelda title. There is a reason why the zelda series albeit seemingly always the same is held to such esteem. 3Ddot didn't try to emulate this, they only tried to emulate the old zeldas, which is actually a smart move, cause they would have probably failed, whereas here they manage to get a pretty good recognition for their work. Remember, the game is a tribute to zelda, not a zelda killer.

(that said, this is a must buy if I ever get a PS3).

Zelda = Arguably the most critically acclaimed franchise in the industry.

3D Dot Game Heroes = A game that is heavily influenced by Zelda.

Result = "Zelda? F Yeah, those games rock! But wait, what's this? 3D Dot Game Heroes? OMG IT LOOX JUST LIEK ZELDA OMG ITSO HORRIBEL!"
