http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/29/arizonas-new-immigration-law-triggers-dueling-rallies-phoenix/  -----link. What do you think. I personally disagree with the law. I don't think this is the right approach. With all the corruption and killings in Mexico, due to the drug cartels,I don't blame people crossing the border illeagly. I think we need to give these people some kind of guess worker program. The ones that are just trying to better there lives. Asking someone for there paper's due to resonable suspicion is profiling. I think the goverment also needs to focus on securing our border's in the first place. So what do you guys think. I want to hear all sides and perspectives.

Sorry about all my grammar errors. Florida and Oklahoma(my state) are thinking about adapting something similar to Arizona's law. Is all of this due to the faillure of the U.S. goverment to act on the problem?

Why is it illegal anyway?

What harm do they do?

I disagree. Reasonable suspicion is a well-established legal standard. If someone commits a crime (and, according to SB 1070, they must have been detained for a reason other than "looking illegal"), it is only reasonable to find out who they are and where they're from.

It all depends on the intentions of the people. There is a huge drug cartel in Mexico. You can't just cross any bordering country and live there legally without going through a long process.

Let's say there's an illegal Irish immigrant(blonde hair, blue eyes) driving in his/her car in Arizona, if a cop sees this person I very much doubt the cop is gonna stop the illegal because they "look" illegal.

Honestly they need to come up with a better law.

Fortunately, they did come up with a better law.

Unfortunately, the misinformation surrounding it is maddening.

governments are all about business ($$$$$) so they wont do shit about the cartels in mexico
i think this law is just ridiculous and reminds me of hitler era
USA need immigrants as immigrants need this country
i just think is sad that we are born with a flag on top of our heads

I have noticed a fairly massive disconnect between the outrage that this bill has received and what it actually attempts to do; and the main reason for this is fear-mongering by individuals who refuse to attempt to understand the bill.

If you travel (pretty much) anywhere in the world, or go to live in another country, any dealings with the police (or any government agency) will require you to verify that you’re in the country legally by having you provide certain paperwork; and if you’re not in the country legally you will probably be deported or imprisoned. There are several reasons for this including the general safety and security of their citizens; but besides those, it is simply not fair to the countless qualified potential immigrants you turn down to allow a queue-jumper to remain in your country.

Mexico really does not want the border patrolled because it acts as a pressure valve by allowing millions of its citizens with very low standards of living an (virtually) no prospects to flee the country; and this allows the country to ignore the systemic problems which keep the standard of living of so many citizens so low, with such few prospects.

I agree with the OP. There should be a greater guest worker program. These people are just trying to better themselves.
