Wii is completely dead in terms of software. Third party companies don't want to develop for this system, this is shameful ...

At this point Nintendo should announce its sucessor as soon as posible because the lack of new games and support is unsustainable.

Except for the fact Nintendo still moves more hardware then the other two guys.

Wii's steam is seriously coming to an end, there's no SW getting sold at all and there's no SW getting released either. I think it's time for Nintendo to unveil their new console. Will happen during 2011's E3 99% sure of that.

Third parties already abandoned the Wii for the most part and 1st party games are too few and too far to make an impact. At least they can get a head start next gen and Wii will be the best selling system this gen no matter how long their competitors stay afloat. They should be proud and simply move forwards before people start talking about something else. No 3DS doesn't count if we are talking about the home console side, with Natal and Move, if any of those becomes a hit, the Wii will not be the headlines anymore, considering third parties are more propense to develop for the new motion controllers than for the Wii.

Red Dead Redemption sold 150k in France.

PS3: 90k

360: 60k

It seem RDR is undertraced by quite a lot in others. In UK it was bigger then FFXIII.

Nintendo has proven it only takes one software to make the system a hit. Wii Sports did this with the Wii. New Super Mario Bros Wii turned a dry year into the best Christmas the Wii has ever had.

Right now, we know nothing about Nintendo's line up going into Q3/4 2010 or anything about 2011. There are no games announced save for maybe Wii Party and Wii Relax (and we saw, what, a few screens of the former). We can not make judgements when we know nothing.

This post screams "Nintendo is doomed." Why does Nintendo need to release a new system so early when the Wii is still out preforming the competition? If Wii needs a new system in 2011, shouldn't the PS3 and 360 get one too? They are in less demand than Wiis are. And Nintendo just broke a record in the Holiday season in a very dry year. This means the Wii has a lot of potential. And Nintendo will announce software. It's as if you suspect Nintendo wont have anything. Hello, Zelda?

Also, lol at third parties. Since when has Nintendo had strong third party support? They have all been niche titles and rail shooters. How is having little to nothing any different. Nintendo, one their own, made the Wii. Which brings me to another point: Nintendo has been the only developer out there who has consistantly made successful motion control games. No one else has. The only contender is Ubisoft with "Just Dance." Do you really think Move or Natal will be a threat?

Nintendo will not release a new system until 2012 or when Sony announces their next system, which ever one comes first.

We have a bet going on then? 2011 will be the year Nintendo unveils their new console. And the Wii was the hot thing to get for the past couple of years but stem started running out last year and it will keep on decreasing at a fast rate this year. They need to keep innovating to keep the interest high and that's not very easy to do. Nintendo is projecting fewer Wii's sold this year while the competition is projecting more sales, how's that possible? Third parties are the answer. Wii isn't getting anything, you know you made no sense with "third parties don't count LLOLX!!" you know they do and you know that if the little support the Wii has left moves to the other consoles it will be really hard for Nintendo to keep the interst alive.

If Wii Party or Wii Relax fail to become the next Wii Fit, then it will be like 2009 all over again, except that this time it will be worst, since there aren't practically any 3rd party games worth getting in a long while and Nintendo can only do so much, considrering that 3DS is around the corner and they had probably already shifted A LOT of resources towards it. The Last Story, Xenoblade, Fling Smash, Metroid: Other M are only small games in terms of HW movers, they won't even make a minimal impact and they are perhaps the only games worth noting this year out of all (Epic Mickey is the only good game that comes to mind from 3rd parties).

Have you heard Miyamoto's interview I posted today and you will realize how disappointed he is with 3rd parties not making an effort and that he is screaming for them to make good games for the Wii. First time I see Miyamoto like that, Reggie was the only one to talk about that openly before.

Betting isn't fun without money. If you win, you can brag. Of course, my claim is "2012, or when Sony announces their next system."

First off, projections are just what the company expects to sell and this is what they tell shareholders. This doesn't mean it will happen. Nintendo is very conservative, so their projections will always be on the low end. The other thing is "ones higher and the other is lower" is all relative. With no numbers to back it up, they mean nothing. Nintendo goes from projecting 10 Wii to 9, or 39,000,000 to 38,999,999. Both numbers are still lower. In reverse, they could say 10 to 11 or 39,000,000 to 39,000,001. One going higher and the other going lower does not mean they'll meat in the middle. 2 is higher than 1 and 1,000,000,000 is lower then a google but they are still leagues apart.

Also, you're basing a lot of your argument on two games failing. What if they don't fail. What if either of them are successes? What if Wii Relax is the new Wii Fit? Then Wiis are flying off shelves again. Of course, you are also forgetting that we do not know their line up. We know nothing. Nintendo could have more motion plus games to show. We just dont know now. But it is a lot to claim with so little information.

But how about a story huh? Did you know back in the days of the NES (and maybe before) that people didn't fight over third parties. Heck, Nintendo exploted them in the later days. Third parties were not system movers. They never were. It was the first parties who moved the systems, not third parties. Before Sony, all the console manufacturers were also the game developers. So, they made games fit the hardware and designed them to push hardware.  Third parties would just hop onto what ever console gave them the most benefit. This is why Nintendo is baffeled. Up until now, third parties always supported the winner. Now, they support the HD twins. They never gave Nintendo strong software outside of a few instances (Moster Hunter 3). Of course, this shows how little of a role they play. Nintendo has sold over 70 million Wiis and made it a phenomenon all on their own. Third parties have yet to make a strong Wii title that helps push hardware. Nintendo having no support is no different from the lack of support they got before. And the 360 and PS3 have all the same support, just they have run out of all their AA software. So third parties are not going to make a difference, and they are certainly not going to help make natal or Move.

But, you may ask, why are Wii sales slowing. Simple: Nintendo was able to keep driving momentum for Wiis with key software at key times. In 2006, they had a lot of software to push the Wii. Wii Sports, Wii Play and Twilight Princess (Wii Sports was really the star of the show though). 2007 didn't need amazing software because they were still growing and Wiis were still sold out anyway. Titles like Galaxy could still help pull in the Gamecube core. Come early 2008, and Nintendo releases Wii fit, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Brothers Brawl one after another. This was no accident. Nintendo planned to have a lot of key software close to each other to snowball momentum. The plan was that these software would drive momentum into the Holiday season and Nintendo would just snowball the system. But the holiday games underperformed. Since then, Nintendo has released Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, and New Super Mario Bros Wii. The latter was very powerful, but it can't make large headway on it's own. Also, it is having less effect in Europe where the 2D Marios were not as prominent and Japan is dead for all consoles. Part of the problem was the company had invested heavily into UGC, and it failed. So, now they have to go back to the drawing board. 2009 was very safe, but we are going to see a lot more from the lapse in 2009.

OK, let's wait until E3, but we will discuss this further once E3 is finished.
