We think the hype surrounding a PSP2 can go up a slight notch this morning, as a comment - all be it a small comment - on the topic has been made by Sony.

Over on the US PlayStation Blog it's usual for gamers to ask Sony questions, and get some sort of answer. So, a gamer asked Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman to either confirm or deny the existence of a PSP2 and/or PSP Phone. In reply, Shuman said: "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of Area 51. In all seriousness, we don’t comment on rumors — you’ll find out for yourself at E3."

So even though it in no way confirms a PSP2, it looks like we will definitely find something out at the platform giants E3 conference, which is just sixteen days away, might I add.

hmmm interesting. If it does get confirmed I wonder what its gonna have, touchscreen probably. Hopefully square decide to switch Agito XIII over to PSP2 now!

Maybe that's why they haven't shown us crap all since last year as well as The 3rd Birthday.

If they do I'll basically buy a PSP2 when it launches. I think its a wise move, by the time Agito is out its really not gonna sell that much in the west at all.

If not at the least I hope they can do a 3DS port since the 3DS will probably have similar power to the PSP 1 (possibly more powerful).

If you read the original comment he was replying to, the guy asked if the PSP2 would be at E3. Sid's basically saying you'll find out whether it'll be at E3 at E3. He's not saying we will see at least something from the device at E3. He's just saying he can't tell us if it'll be there or not.

He didn't say no though ROFL

Sony like NEEDS the following in the PSP2:

Big Marketing

Low Price

Two Analogue Sticks

More graphically powerful.

Do something serious about piracy

And most importantly, no one is gonna buy it if it has no quality games. That's why titles like Agito XIII, The 3rd Birthday, God of War Ghost of Sparta should be launch titles to really give the PSP2 a big launch boost.

If none of the above happen... then Sony clearly hasn't learnt their lesson and the PSP2 will simply get it's ass beaten by the 3DS...
