I think your find it goes both way's. You can't really say anyone is at fault.

I was in Paris yesterday for a friends wedding and while there thought i would check out the shops. In all the electronic shops i went to there were loads of PS3's in stock, in fact i would say there were more PS3's on the shelves then Wii and 360 combined.

Now as others have mentioned that means nothing as the area that is having problems is US. But it shows there are PS3's out there and that Sony has at least got a lot of stock to Europe. If the demand is as high as some on here say in US why has the stock been allowed to get so low?

A lot of people are talking the talk but yet nobody has put up a picture of these supposed shortages. We live in the digital age, we carry a camera with us wherever we go. If people could put some pictures up showing the shelves bare then maybe some would take it more seriously. But thus far we have none up.

I'm not sure if they would change many minds. Pictures or not, some areas are out while others are not, that's just how it currently is. We DO know one thing, GameStop and other retailers have said the shortages exist. Whatever the reason may be, that's what many have to go on, along with their own observation(s).

Since you made the thread, and obviously disagree that there is a serious shortage, why not provide proof to your claim? Afterall, it is you with the accusation. Think of it as prosecution vs defense. Which of the two is to bear the burden of proof?

Hey don't get me wrong i believe there are not as many PS3's out there on the shelves in the US as there are in say europe. As for proof i showed you a photo with 25+ PS3's sat in a row not only taking up all the shelf room but some of the floor room too. Which shows at least here in UK PS3 is not shifting as many PS3's as you would think hence why there are loads on the shelf. What makes it even more interesting is that those PS3's were in the sale with £30 ($45) off the full price + GOW3 included. That in my opinion is a great incentive to get one.

Funny enough that is in stock at Gamestop in US http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77841

And as i said before so many people on here obviously go to game shops, they have commented there are none in their stores. Take a picture. Seeing is believing, a picture tell's a thousand words, you get the idea :)

I can buy 20 PS3s from one Media Markt in Germany. Send me the money and I will to prove it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Hyruken, you're aware that the reported shortages are in the United States, right? Showing photos of the PS3 in stock in the UK does not mean the shortages in the US are imaginary.

LOL! +1 thread closed.

i agree! lol

1) so first you try to disprove there are shortages, then you are claiming the fact that your retailer pic proves it isn't shifting as many ps3's, while stating there is no reason for people to not buy it because of the bundle and sale - insinuating that people just don't want PS3's.

2) Gamestop is a retailer that has stated the PS3 = short supply.

3) So, if someone takes a picture of an empty store, it completely invalidates your picture or is there still a "oh, that's anecdotal"-comment coming?

I would...but by the time it's converted from British ounds to Euros you would be a millionaire

Hardly any here. Just face it. No matter how you want to slice it, the PS3 is here to stay because people want it. It's selling well in Japan, other, and SONY is having problem keeping up with demand in the U.S. while at the same increased its overall demand since the Slim debuted.

I never said I would send you the consoles in the first place. I would just buy them and prove it (make a picture)

Seriously guy's stop trying so hard to try and invent things i have said and try and make it into some kind of fanboy war or something.....

1, How have i tried to disprove anything? I showed a photo of my shop showing they were overflowing with PS3's, ones that were in the sale. The question i asked in this thread was "How is PS3 Stock in your area?". The photo shows the stock in my area. How you have gone from that to me saying nobody wan't a PS3 is beyond me. You are taking it way too seriously, relax, go outside or something!

2, The same Gamestop who i linked above having the same console in stock that i showed a photo of?

3, If someone takes a photo of their game shop saying/showing "PS3 sold out" then it answers the question of this thread "How is PS3 stock in your area?". Because if you read the opening post your see i said we seem to be getting mixed views. We are a gaming website with gaming fans, ones that will most likely go to gaming shops quite often! People such as yourself claim there are shortages especially in US. While others say they have not seen any shortages. Even ioi say's there are none. If his contacts who help him get the numbers say there are no problems then by saying there are means you do not agree with him or this website.

The point of this thread which so many have missed is to gain "EVIDENCE" to show what kind of stock issues we are seeing if any at all. Anyone shows anything remotely showing the shortage is not true or not that bad etc.. is jumped on by people of yourself. But as i said before, there is no need to get personal, no need to come out with that tone of language, no need to try and be-little each other. If you believe there are shortages then that is fine. I am not going to say your wrong, i won't imply you are a Sony armchair warrior trying to defend it's honour etc.. because that would be stupid!

If you read what i said i even said i agree there is a lack of PS3's in US. BUT i don't agree there is what you would define as a typical shortage. I think Sony have just enough PS3's in US to meet it's current demand. Where as the vibe on this forum is that there are a mass amount of people out there trying to get a PS3 but they can't get one, that there are queues outside the shops every morning in the hope one arrives! That in my view is not true.

But in contrast to US, the UK and Europe is a very different picture. This whole massive demand thing is not true here. As others have mentioned how is it Europe is overstocked with PS3 when demand would appear not as high as it was while places such as US has low stock while at least on here we are lead to believe demand is high?

Personally i find that an honest question, as KW say's it is one that is fair to ask. But no doubt as before people will just ignore that and go straight back into "must defend the ps3 honor!" mode....

Hey guiz I found some PS3's in papua new guinea! Send me some money and I will give it to my contact there and he will send you photos as proof :P

sony is only willing to ship a maximum number of units to the us right now given the current losses they take on each sale. The new build should allow them to increase this maximum number towards the holiday season.

No, complete nonsense. Read above, this has nothing to do with fiddling with manufacturing price or "new build". Everything runs as planned.

Drkohler we have had this discussion several times in other threads...it is not nonsense.  You seem to be under the impression that every order place by retailers is filled...it is not.  Sony simply was unwiling to meet the full demand of US retailers when orders were placed.  Why do you have a hard time accepting this?
