Forums - Sales - How is PS3 stock in your area?

Upstate NY has plenty for a few months now.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

This is a stupid argument.
UK is not USA
SCEE is not SCEA
Let me try to summarize what you're saying "If there are PS3s where I live then there must be the same amount of PS3s on the other side of the world."

There are plenty of people and corporate businesses that will tell you that PS3 is supply constrained in the US. In fact there is not a single big name game distributor out there that will tell you otherwise(i.e. Target, Toy R Us, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, and even the now defunct GameCrazy.) Why do you have to be so stubborn?

so because there is stock in one of the most friendlist 360 countries(apart from the us) == no shortage wrldwide!!??
fact is there are shortages but only in the US, we are all sick of this debate, and at this rate people will create a whole new record for the amount of time being in constant denial

Or sony will win the award for most incompetent supply chain...  modest sales for 5 months in the US now and still slow supply apparently, all the while Europe and Japan are awash with PS3's

can you explain that?

i just know i'll get banned if i even bother to reply to that question seriously

why? thats ridiculous. so presumably what you are saying is that actually the PS3 is selling more than the wii in the US?  yeah... ok.

Underestimated demand is part of the problem, and they had probably calculated it better for Europe.

Add to that that the PS3 is far closer to profitability (or above it, who knows) in Europe because of the stronger euro, then why wouldn't they wait until the cheaper version comes to the US and then try to build it up again there, while keeping their strongest region supplied anyway...

(i'm not saying that it's the only reason, but sony wouldn't ignore the fact that it's probably smarter to keep their best region flooded and the 'lost' region a bit in the dark)

LOL... well that could backfire

the Euro just hit a six year low against the Yen.   oops.

Yeah right I think you are just spinning this to your favour the new SCU which is even cheaper to make they will make more profit from, hopefully this will counter any more falls.

it's the future of handheld

And I think you know nothing of business, supply and economics.

A company will set up its coming year business plan, profitability and forecasts based on a currency exchange rate band.  In 2010 most Japanese companies were working on a range of 125 to 130  for european exports this year...  its now below 110.  That wipes out profits in a company where the profit margin is in single digit percentage figures.  Does any of that actually compute with you?

Where a 250euro PS3 was the equivalent of 33,750 yen 8 months ago... that is now 27,500 yen... a fall of about 18%, thats big.

You say they will plan it on an entire year, so it is actually sensible that they had plenty of stock in EU where money is still bigger than in the US (and where they were sure to get more traction than in the US). And it supports the "can't just quickly move some shipment to the US"-statement.

supply is pretty bad here they also have the new 2100 skus since like beginning of may so its not like the shortages where caused by sony waiting for them b/c there out and its still hard to get a ps3 in my area

stores do get them but in a limited supply like 3-6 per store once or twice a week

i believe the supply will remain like this till fall when sony release move+slim bundle they will ship a ton of those but the problem is that it wont cost 299$ for the consumer

like some others in here i believe that sony is causing this on purpose

                                                                      Play Me

Their are some at my local Best Buy.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

It's in short supply in my area, but if you want one, you can find it. The store that has it may change every couple of days, though. But this only applies to the $299 slim; almost all the Gamestops around here (and there are a lot) have used phat PS3s for a lower price. As for the $349 model, there are a few of those also, but some stores in this area have also chosen to not stock it...
