If there is a shortage, it's not happening in my area. Unless you just strictly go to Gamestop for consoles. I can walk into any Wal-Mart, and have a choice of any of the current consoles at my disposal. Sure it doesn't count toward sales featured on this site. But from what I see, there's no shortage of PS3s, at all.

There are PS3 shortages in Europe and the US. This is a deliberate move to increase consumer demand. 

The PS3 will stay ahead of the 360  in worldwide weekly sales. Gran Turismo  5 will ensure the PS3 stays ahead of the 360 indefinitely in weekly sales.

Sony is restricting the supply of PS3s which will increase the demand of the PS3 in the last 4 months of the year which really matter in regards for yearly sales. PS3s are being stock piled for late game launches and the launch of the PS Move.

Gran Turismo 5 will most definitely shift a lot of PS3 systems and boost the PS3 sales through the roof.Gran Turismo 5 launches at the start of the holiday sales peak sales period. 

PS3 should sell over 15 million PS3s in 2010.
