no hard drive NO HARD DRIVE.

It needs flash memory.

Mechanical spinning drive on a portable console = bad news.

I am personally scared and excited for the new PSP.

Must have:
32 gb or larger hard drive - Expect this or higher, possibly 2 SKUS base model 32GB, premium/phone model 64GB
Netflix streaming - Expected since netflix app is appearing everywhere
Free 4G access (See Sprint-Kindle) - Expect it only for the premium/phone model, basic model Wifi on b/g/n network
Ability to Multitask - Can you elaborate on this?
Touch Screen - If it doesn't have at least a 5 point multi touch functionality, Sony might as well not bother releasing the PSP2
Built in Camera - Same as above, this is a minimum
Skype - Already in PSP1, so this is 100% sure
UMD Drive or connector for backwards compatability - Wishful thinking IMO, PSP2 will be BC with PSP1, PSN, PS1 and Game Archive and PS1 games through DD PSN only, UMD is going the way of the dodo. I do expect PSP2 games to be sold on read only flash cards.
Apps (Since the Apple App store is out, I would contact google and get droid support) - A given, I actually expect the PSP2 will have access to the Android App store, or Sony will have its own app store tab on the PSN store or both
Built in Microphone or bundle bluetooth headset - Microphone is already built in on the PSP, this is a given, as is bluetooth support since that was on the go, don't expect a headset bundle though
Dual Analog sticks - Expect it
Must be as hard or harder to pirate than the PS3 - Obvious

Highly recommended:
Trophy support - Given that MS is putting achievements on WM7 and App is having achievements on iphones, this is a given
Priced the same as the PSP GO - Ideal for the base model
Pre-bundled game - Maybe
Custom firmware detection - Highly unlikely
Facebook-Twitter connectivity - Highly likely

Will all of these features the PSP2 could be a direct competitor to the Iphone, you could make calls and text, take pictures, buy apps, watch movies and play awesome games with real controls. It would be much cheaper as well.

Thoughts

My thoughts. Also needs a GPS app, also tv out that outputs games/videos at 720p on your tv and possibly a portable projector where you can project images out of your PSP2 like some phones have it now. This would be perfect for lots of people that would love to play PSP games but hate handhelds, this way you could play the games on your TV or with the portable projects and with a DS3 using bluetooth.

thumbs up! lol

1) If I am going to get a Cell Phone, it should be free (I already pay thousands for the plan)

2) If I want a portable gaming device I want the one with the games I want. The PSP hasn't shown good support in the past beyond a handful of games I want so I couldn't justify buying it.

Oh, and there won't be free 4G networking if there is Skype and Netflix. You'll have to pay. If 4G was free, then yes due to the thousands of dollars I would save over my regular cell phone use.

1) Which top line smart phone has been subsidized (spelling?) to become free? Can't think of one

2) That's subjective, the PSP has had plenty of games, but the main problem I have is that I'd prefer to play it on a TV screen, what I sugested earlier would fix that problem.

1) that's why I don't buy them. I still have my Sony Ericsson W300 that I got for free over 3 years ago. Hopefully I'll be upgrading to another free Sony Ericsson in the near future when I add my brother to the line and split the bill with him to save some money.

2) so was the first.

Smart phones are a waste of money due to how much you need to pay a month just to use any of the features.

Now, if the OP had said something like

it supports <insert cool new idea never seen before here> and had lots of 1st and 3rd party support.

I'd be more inclined to say yes.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit
11/03/09 Desposit: Mod Bribery (RolStoppable)  vg$ 500.00
06/03/09 Purchase: Moderator Privilege  vg$ -50,000.00

Nordlead Jr. Photo/Video Gallery!!! (Video Added 4/19/10)

No, because i buy in june a PSP with Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker!

the best RPG's are coming 2013 !!!! oh my god, this is perfect for RPG-GAMER = ) Ni No Kuni - 25 january, Time and Eternity, tales of xillia (PS3) and the maybe best game ever: metal gear solid ground zero

what i want is
- atleast Standard tv resolution (480p or 576p) as opposed to its existing 272p
- dual thumb stick
- shoulder buttons more like on the sixaxis/dualshock controller.
- wireless N
- extremely difficult to hack like the ps3 (will be if rumors about psp cell processor are true)
- trophy support/friends list in sync with ps3.

the other features you mentioned are nice but then the price wouldnt be so nice.

EDIT: and launch it will a monster hunter game and a COD4 port and it will be the most sucessful launch of a video games system ever.

oh yeah and i forgot about memory lol....32gb would probably be too small as games for psp2 will probably be around 5-10 gigs each.

Yeah i want trophy support, a 32gb hard drive, 2 analog sticks, and some good games.

I disagree, I cannot live without smartphones anymore and I pay < 50 bucks a month for everything on mine, which incluces unlimited data on mine over a 3G network.

You probably didn't read my suggestion to give a TV out and/or a portable projector for the PSP which it would allow us to play PSP games on the big screen TV and using the DS3 over blue tooth. PSP1 has had plenty of first and JP 3rd party support, the problem has been Western 1st party support. If you don't like the games available on the PSP that's ok because it's subjective, but to say ther PSP hasn't shown good support in the past beyond a handful of games is wrong.

They should just give up on the psp all together.
