I'm re-asking the same question because I think it was asked in the wrong way. In the thread I linked to, Super Smash Bros won hands down (and it hopefully will here too) But the main reason it won was not because it was the best game, but because it was the most different - the other fighting games are likely stealing votes from each other. Taking a lesson from the parlimentary voting system in my country, I propose a preferential voting system should be used here. For those of you unfamiliar with this term, what I want you to do is list as many (or as few) fighting games as you want, in the order in which you like them. See examples below for the shooter genre
1 - Halo

1 - Killzone 2
2 - CoD6
3- Resistance
So, vote, and remember, this generation only

I will be tallying up the votes at some arbitrary time, but I promise I shan't use this to influence the vote in any way.
Edit, I am not in the least bit interested in people arguing whether or not smash bros is a fighting game. If the game is on this list http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=&keyword=&console=®ion=All&developer=&publisher=&genre=Fighter&boxart=Both&results=50&order=Hits then it is recognised on VGChartz as a fighting game and is eligible to be put forward for vote (if it's current gen).
