Forums - Gaming - We need to end 3rd party exclusives for good! Big budgets is one solution

I think we're going to start seeing more PC/360 games being made as opposed to PC/360/PS3 games... I base that on the fact that there have been several PC game developers who have had press releases recently stating that they were now developing games for the 360 (with the PS3 being noticeably absent).

No thank you.

The current system is just fine. If you want to play a game buy the system it is available on. It's not like you only are allowed one game console.

I think that well below 10% of my game purchases weren't exclusive. Generally multi-platform games don't excite me.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Why should 3rd party developers be forced to make games on platforms they don't want to make games for?

I'd actually rather see more non-multiplatform games.  Let them spend their time making their game fricking awesome on a single platform and not sucktacular on two or three.

 QFT

I've played very few games last gen which were released on all three platforms and didn't suck ass.

There are also games made for the Wii controls which just don't work on the PS360 and vice versa.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

True and many of them likely wouldn't sell on the other systems anyways.

I enjoy multi-platform games, but I prefer exclusives (When theyre done correctly, i.e R&C, uncharted etc.)

I mean, if assassins creed had stayed exclusive to the PS3 it would most likely have been released 3 months later, been 3 times bigger and better, but probably sold less. But in the end, it had to be made to fit onto a 360 disc and therefore lost some of its potential. I dont mind multiplatform games, but its disappointing to see certain games suffer because of one of the consoles weaknesses.

 It'll happen.

The game bombed like hell on the 360, something like only 180,000 copies opening week. It doesn't sound bad until you consider the amount of hype and money that went into developing the game and realize that they'll need at least a million sold to break even.
