Forums - Sony - Sony still 'prepared to invest' in developers

But only where there is a 'long-term creative benefit' to the platform.

Sony has said it will consider future studio acquisitions, pointing to its recent purchase of LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule as a sign of a commitment to innovation.

"Our acquisition of Media Molecule clearly shows our commitment to our first party studios, to ensure that we continue to offer by far the most compelling, innovative exclusive games," Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House told uk.playstation.com.

"Over the years we have done this with developers such as Guerilla Games and Evolution Studios and now with Media Molecule."

He added: "I think it is clear that we are prepared to invest where there is long-term creative benefit to our platform and our consumers."

These are claims from SCEE specifically, and it seems they intend to continue growing. With their recent acquisitions, they've elevated themselves to being roughly on par with SCEA in terms of first party output.

If only SCEJ were similarly driven to expand their development efforts. -_-

Buy Square Enix! DO IT!

Imagine Wada coming out on Microsoft stage this year tapping that shoulder again... "I'm pleased to announce Final Fantasy V....."

Kaz Hirai suddenly comes out from the back of the stage "Excuse me, I want an announcement to make"

"Square Enix is now part of Sony Computer Entertainment

Wada, YOU ARE FUCKING FIRED!

Have a good E3."

They are doing fine there with minimal efforts, they don't need expansion there.

Plus many big games like Yakuza and Final fantasy are exclusive there so..

Lol, if that happened the internet would quite literally go nuclear.

They're gonna buy Insomniac. They've been waiting for them to go multiplat all these years to justify buying them. There wouldn't be a point buying them if they stayed exclusive forever as a third party.

Apparently Insomniac wasn't part of that plan. They're usually pretty good on acquisitions though.

SCEJ is the heart and soul of SCE , they don't need to grow and expand because they're awesome like that!
