I have a phat PS3 model 80gig with backwards compatability. Now with Killzone 3 coming out and all these games pushing the limits. Do i need to upgrade soon? When i played Uncharted 2 the fan was definitely working hard. What do you think?

Clean it out and it should be fine. Just take a vacuum to the vents to get the dust out. It's really amazing how much crap builds up inside electronics, contributing to overheating.

no. Your fine unless your really want to upgrade. Just use a vacuumn to suck the dust out
Long Live SHIO!
Yeah give it a good cleaning.
In the end a new Slim is a little quieter, but it's not like tha fatty is very loud (when clean). Save that money for games.
XBL: WiiVault Wii: PM me PSN: WiiVault
PC: AMD Athlon II Quadcore 635 (OC to 4.0ghz) , ATI Radeon 5770 1GB (x2)
MacBook Pro C2D 2.8ghz, 9600m GT 512 iMac: C2D 2.0, X2600XT 256

if you don't want backward compatibility then you can,but first sell it on ebay for huge price
i would suggest get the fan checked by sony and keep the BC PS3
or wait until next year when PS3 SLIM could be released
