Ugh. *rubs eyes*

I fucking hate contacts. Have no trouble or fear of putting them in, but I never feel like they're a part of my eyes, but what they actually are, a layer of weird shit covering my eye balls.

On the flip side, people say that glasses are bad for your eyes (O.o), and think that glasses are bad looking.

I disagree that glasses look bad though... mmmm... *opens the naughty folder on my computer*

I've been told a lot of times that glasses look good on me, but personally I prefer contacts. Can't say I feel anything wearing them really, and it's easier to wear sunglasses outside (my regular glasses tint a bit according to how strong the light is, but not enough). Soft contacts though, rigid ones are a pain... although easier to put in and take out.

But nowadays I pretty much only wear glasses for a few hours some evening once per month - when I change contacts.

Why?

glasses. In the summer my hayfever gets bad and contacts just irritate my eyes more.

I'm trying out contacts for the first time. They feel pretty comfortable, though they do tend to irritate after several hours of use. My main beef is that my vision isn't as sharp as it is with glasses, largely thanks to a slight astigmatism in one of my eyes. It's good enough for out in the world, but it's a total pain if I want to focus on text.

I love being able to wipe moisture off my corrective lenses with my eyelids though. Glasses are lousy in bad weather.

So my answer is both.

Maybe your doctor didn't deem it irritating enough, but IMO if you're not happy with your vision like that, you should talk to him/her.

I have astigmatism as well and that's not a necessary thing to endure with contacts (and I'm pretty sure it's been there for years, for both rigid and soft contacts).

poking myself in the eye doesnt appeal to me and i can get sunglasses and feel like less of an asshole wearing them indoors because they are prescriptions.
