Well, if you just don't count the most popular system of the generation, and ignore the two biggest system sellers for the most popular home system because they are "not relevant" (huh?), then Halo 3 is the most popular game of the generation so far! Wow!!! *rolls eyes*

When Wii Sports has sold 40+ million, no one will be able to pretend Halo 3 is more popular. And you can't disclude Wii Play simply for being inexpensive and well-marketed.

At the end of the generation, those who want an accurate look at the top 20 most popular games will not see Halo 3 on the list. Those who want to ignore Nintendo's repeated disruption of the market will no doubt find a way to put Halo 3 at #1.

I didn't count handhelds by accident. I am man enough to admit I was wrong.

  1.  Super Mario Galaxy- I'm not saying it won't happe, but it isn't very likely.
  2. SSBB- I firmly believe this one will.
  3. GTAIV- More than likely will but isn't quite as definite as Brawl.
  4. GT- About as much as a chance as SMG.
  5. Wii Fit- Eh, could happen but I really doubt.
  6. Wii Sports/Play- Without a doubt.
  7. FFXIII- No chance in hell.

 Galaxy, Brawl, WiiPlay and GTA 4 should all comfortably beat Halo 3. Gran Turismo and FFXIII won't match the numbers of previous games because of the low install base of PS3. FFXII has sold about 1.8 million copies in NA last time I checked and the PS3 will not ever have the install base of PS2.. and especially not within the year or so FFXIII is supposed to come out.

  I also really think WiiFit will underpreform. It might be a modest hit but I don't see it really catching on.

SSBB & SMG - possible due to larger base and more worldwide support but it'd be close
GT5 & FF XIII - highly unlikely, I expect both to sell less than previous editions. FF might if it's amazing like VII.

Well of course Wii Sports will. Halo 3 will never be able to get where it is right now. But I guess not fair to state packins.

I would say that Wii Play is a very strong possibility. It's doing it now and selling more than it on a weekly basis worldwide so yea.

Um GTA IV, if both versions were combined then I'd say yes, but I don't think just one version would be able to do it. I find it hard to believe that the most dominant exclusive on 360, H3, could be outsold by a non exclusive franchise, despite it being GTA.

Other possibilities include though:

GT5
FFXIII
Wii Fit
Mario Kart Wii
SSBB
SMG

That's about all I see really having a chance.

2. Super Smash Bros Brawl-SSBM sold about 6 million on a console whose sales stunk. SSBB will be a much better game, super hyped, and on a system that will have gamecubes lifetime sales already and keep selling strong.

3. Grand Theft Auto 4-Combined (PS3 + 360) Yes. Seperated, 360-maybe, PS3-no.

4. Gran Turismo-Even though the PS3's install base is rather small, I still say yes.

5. Wii fit-This game will either flop or succeed and if it succeeds then yes.

6. Wii sports/Wii play-no duh.

7. Potentially Final Fantasy Xiii if it matches the sales of Final Fantasy Vii-Most likely
